I'm In Love

So I just stopped by to preach the gloryof a certain beauty that has captured my heart as of late (namely Runed Halo).

This thing is so versatile it ain't even funny and plays very much like a miniature Leyline of Sanctity. Protection is nothing to scoff at and this guy can make you pro any card. Goyf? Get out of here. Bolt? Never heard of it. Thoughtseize? No peaking. Opponent wants to win with a ton of Pestermites/Restoration Angels/Deceiver Exarchs? Tough luck. Unfortunately tokens that aren't copies of an actual creature aren't affected by this guy but no card shouldbe able to do everything for a measly two mana. This guy has stalled so many of my opponents to allow me to secure the win with my Birds With Swords deck it isn't even funny. (<---- that was my second shameless plug tonight).

Anyone else showing this card some main or sideboard love?

I usually am, in my Azorious MORPHine trip. It really works as a great deterrent, especially vs red decks. Having trouble casting spells with Eidolon out? Take 2 now, and never take damage from him again, even attacks.

In my deck it works really great as I have 4 copies of Flickerwisp to reset it. And several flicker spells to add to that.

Trading Post always put in serious work in my Tron deck whenever I survive to enough mana to cast it. Life gain, artifact recursion, artifact cycling...

I've been considering Runed Halo for my EDH deck, primarily for protection from annoying Commanders such as Nekusar or Bruna... still need to pick one up!

Boza I've made that play against Eidolon of the Great Revel and it is absolutely hilarious to watch your opponent die to their own creature. I run four Kor Skyfishers in my Birds With Swords deck to bounce mine and a second copy in the sideboard just incase.

Dekordius Someone had a post in the Modern forum (I think) on here about the possibility and playability of Trading Post in Tron, if you get the chance you should dig up the thread and put your two cents in on the subject. I personally liked the idea but I don't know the deck very well and it seemed nobody else was on board with the card.

GeeksterPlays I hadn't thought about it's applications in Commander, that's just mean lol.

rorofat You won't be disappointed.

addaff Because of my post or did you already plan to use it?

I'm attempting a mono-white control deck for Modern. This may end up having to go into the deck.

Dark Magician : Oh, the card HAS to be built around to be effective. You can't just throw it into a Tron build and expect it to work. My particular build is heavily recursion based and works on a "true" inevitability plan, which means it tends to be slower but really, really resilient to non exile removal of anything.

Mono U tron doesn't want the card because Mono U tron is more like a traditional control deck that happens to have a ton of mana available, and R/G tron doesn't want it because it's too slow.

Dekordius Seems legit though in theory.

Cards like Runed Halo are the reason I always, ALWAYS pack at least two different enchantment hate spells in my sideboard (the Abzan tokens deck I've been playing lately, aka I bring dem roids, has Sundering Growth and Maelstrom Pulse). As I said in the mono-black thread, I just can't trust Thoughtseize alone to avoid situations where a single fucking card makes me fold.

That said, it's worth noting that some of the cards the OP lists as being hosed by this are often T1 plays, so Runed Halo will only do so much against them. Leyline of Sanctity is still a safer choice against burn and discard.

Note that I did not say this is another Leyline of Sanctity only that it can function similarly. Obviously Sanctity outclasses Halo.
