This is, in my opinion, the best cheap deck, and the cheapest best deck for getting into modern tournaments.

Burn is super cheap. You can build the mono red version for close to $150. The only expensive cards will be Goblin Guides and Eidolon of the Great Revels. Once you get more money, you can upgrade bit by bit to the Naya version, which appears to be the best in the current meta, as far as I can tell. That can end up costing anywhere from $400 to $600, depending on the lands you end up using.

I agree with burn most likely being the best choice. In my build which I haver amassed over years of work, RDW Funsies For ~$50 you could buy all the burn spells for a top tier deck. As ThisIsBullshit says, the most expensive part of the deck are creatures, and the lands.

Both of those things you can find good substitutes for a budget build. But you could even get the Monastery Swiftspears with your first buy because they are cheap.

Hope this advice helps.

Living End is a pretty cheap list, with a few, more expensive options that you can invest in further down the road. You don't have to go all-out on the mana base, and Avalanche Riders is an excellent alternative to Fulminator Mage.

Well, if you're looking for mono-color, Infect probably sounds the best. It even has a sorta Heroic feel to it; you're pumping up a single creature into an early and surprising finish. Later on you could splash into Simic, giving you Blighted Agent and Distortion Strike.

Otherwise I'd say Burn.

Modern Format Primer - Banlist Update (19/1/2015). Ah there's the good stuff.

You only have to type 'modern format primer' between the square brackets. I've designed it that way so it's super easy.

I'm on a phone, it's a pain in the butt. Also, I didn't know it was that easy so I'll do so in the future.
