Is Grixis Twin worth investing in?

Modern forum

I have about 700 bucks to spend on modern, and I was looking at Grixis twin as a potential option.

My reasons:

Twin is a decently powerful deck

Grixis allows me to move into control or delver if I don't like twin

I can afford the entire deck (I've already got a lot of the cards).

Do you guys think it's worth getting? (Is it tier 1, will it get banned, is it worth saving another 600 for junk/jund, etc)

Yeah, Grixis Twin is a great deck. Not getting banned any time soon. Definitely worth it. Deck flexibility makes is potentially more worth than BGx.

I think its worth it, especially if you have a lot of the cards. It's powerful, won't be banned, and will stay relevant for a while. Also, blue staples will hold their value well, so you should be able to play whatever you want.

Its funny, I just won 2 - 0 against it tonight.

However, it seems to be the new breed of twin, and twin is always a good deck.

I feel like grixis control is better than grixis twin, though the twin version is essentially the control deck with an oops i win possibility. I prefer playing extra control cards over exarch and twin.

Grixis control wont go too far - its too easy to disrupt and its wincons, whilst large, lack evasion. Grixis twin on the other hand wont go anywhere because it includes these wincons and the combo. It's far more flexible and robust.

"Twin is a decently powerful deck" Lol... And anyway go ahead and proxy it before you buy so you can get a feel for the deck.

Once you move into Grixis Twin you'll realize one thing. You do more powerful and game deciding things when you cast your U and R cards. My advice is to stick to UR Twin. It has less dead draws and mulligans far better. Kolaghan's Command is an amazing card, but Cryptic Command will win you games and give you extra time in grindier matchups. Combining it with more counters than the Grixis list makes it even more powerful.

I'm probably gonna stick with grixis because I've been testing online over the last few days and I like the feel of it, but I'll do some more testing before I order :) thanks again!

Personally, I would say go good old Izzet Twin, because your landbase is sooooo much more comfortable, and you have more space for countermagic/fun stuff. But having mister Bananas as a back-up plan is delicious as well...

I'm going to buy grixis for sure, just so I have some versatility in which deck to play, but I might stick to straight up UR twin when I'm playing the twin version. Who knows :)
