Is it just me, or is Elves becoming a thing?

So, I was browsing mtgtop8 and I notice that "Monogreen Aggro" (aka, Elves) is now 6% of the meta, and counting. Is this a T2 thing? Or maybe it'll become T1? I haven't personally encountered it yet. What are your thoughts on Elves' place in the current environment?
Monogreen aggro is not entirely elves, all the time. There are multiple ways of making it work.
It's Collected Company. Green needed card advantage - now it has it.
It's the same as little kid abzan. You can play dumb creature decks now and not have to worry much.
Edit: to answer the 'why not' question - because it has very little interaction which is problematic in modern.

Very few modern decks have interaction, that's always been a thing in modern. I don't see why that's a problem for Elves in particular?

ChiefBell - The solution to this problem probably would be to splash white for Path to Exile and powerful sideboard options.

No, the solution is to splash black for Abrupt Decay, Gilt-Leaf Palace, Thoughtseize, etc. My friend has been playing Elves for years and we've found that splashing Black gives the deck the best balance.

vishnarg - 50% are running 4 copies of Lightning Bolt. 25% are running Remand and 25% are running Path to Exile.
So that is just not true.
Delver is running a lot, Twin is runnign a lot, Junk is running a lot, Jund is running a lot. That's a lot of the current T1 metagame.
Black is the way to go for a splash.

I'm not saying that there isn't interaction in modern, but I'm saying that half the decks in the meta are completely unconcerned with it, or that if they are it's a very limited part of their gameplan. For example, Burn, goes straight for face and doesn't interact much except for some Atarka's Command and Searing Blaze. Tron just ramps up, drops Karn/O-Stone/Ugin and wipes the board, Affinity plays all it's artifacts and goes for lethal, Infect just dodges blockers and tries to hit for 10 - what I'm trying to say is, comparative to Standard and especially Legacy, interaction with the opponent is not as common.

Yes I 100% agree that there a lot of decks that just don't care about it. Burn, Tron, and affinity being chief among them. Aggro essentially. There is big aggro in modern that you dont see to the same extent in standard. But you know, any non-T4 win deck is going to need some. I am not certain that elves is a consistent T4 win deck?

Elves is like Merfolk(which is my main modern deck) in that you CAN turn 4 win with it, but 90% of the time you're not.

As a devotion to green player in standard and someone who is trying to get into modern, I am SO HAPPY that this is coming back. I'm so comfortable with green and having a solid mostly green deck that isn't infect or abzan is really nice to see

CoCo Elves is a thing. It's not good, but it's a thing.

JexInfinite So apparently you're missing that it's making Top 8? It's going to push Tier 1 hard, especially as WotC continue to print new elves.

DrFunk27 I'll have you know Treefolk once Top8d or something. Elves is not going to be pushing T1 at all. Abzan CoCo, maybe, but even that's behind the top decks.

Collected Company is 100% responsible for the resurgence of Elves. And why not? That deck is cheap to build (for now), and it's reasonably competitive against the field. The lack of white for good hatebears might make a difference, but we'll just have to see in the future.
