Is Miracle Worth it?
Modern forum

Hey everyone,
Lately I've been drawn to the miracle cards. Cards like Temporal Mastery, Thunderous Wrath, reforged the soul, Terminus, and Nature's Blessing. My question is, are any of these actually worth running one of in modern decks?
For example, one of:
Temporal Mastery in any control or burn?
Thunderous Wrath in burn or patriot control?
Nature's Blessing in aggro infect?
Terminus in control or even just a sideboard option against affinity?
Or possibly even reforged the soul in burn or patriot control (snapcaster for the occasion when something good gets discarded)?
I know the chances of drawing are a very big turn off, and I wouldn't even think of running more than one, but are they worth it? Does anybody have any experience with this?

None of them are really worth playing. Outside of legacy you don't have that good control over the top card of your deck. (No Brainstorm, Top is banned, etc.) Without that, the cards aren't worth putting in your deck because of how high the variance is. They're terrible unless Miracle'd, and not doing that consistently is just bad.

Miracles is definitely a good legacy deck, with Terminus and Entreat the Angels, but because all the best ways to manipulate the top of your library to control your topdecks are banned in modern (Sensei's Divining Top and Jace, the Mind Sculptor), the deck can't really function competitively because then you're stuck drawing the miracle cards when you don't want to.

Thanks for the correction SimicPower
Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. Especially since most of the the decks I mention are tempo and need all of the cards they can get instead of needing a mulligan or wasting a draw. Just wondering, especially with Temporal Mastery. Makes me really want Brainstorm and the top back.

You'll find that people stray from miracle spells in modern. They only really see play in EDH, or the legacy /
miracles list that splashes
(it plays a combination of Entreat the Angels, Terminus, and the red for Bonfire of the Damned). But that Legacy list can only get away with it because it plays with Sensei's Divining Top and Brainstorm.
If you're really adamant about playing them in modern, Serum Visions is gonna be an MVP in whatever deck you decide to play with them and I would probably assume that it gets built as a more midrange-y /
/
control shell. Thats just my opinion though.

If you want to use Temporal Mastery, try Temporal Trespass.
It's a better card. Potentially , which isn't easy mind you, but an extra turn for 3 mana is sweet. And it is basically guaranteed to cost less than
.

miracles are only really good in legacy. In modern the are clunky and inefficient without Sensei's Divining Top and Brainstorm. If you want to play miracles, go for it in legacy. In modern, dont play any of these.

i think Sigiled Starfish, Crystal Ball, and Serum Visions are gonna be your best bet at top decking. unless you wanna try R/W/U and run Magma Jet. it'd even give Thassa, God of the Sea a try

It could work as a scry/burn/miracle deck in tabletop and more casual play, yes, but it would completely fold in a PTQ and the such.

Miracles splashes red for Pyroblast / Red Elemental Blast , not Bonfire. Also, Thunderous Wrath is pretty sweet in budget builds for burn I've made before, but for a top level deck I wouldn't recommend it.

I should probably clarify that by budget, I mean I built the deck with cards I already had and didn't have to trade for/buy, it's not like burn is very expensive anyway.
