I just pre-ordered a box of Modern Masters. My local game store was selling them to loyal customers for 145$. You can imagine I hopped right on that offer, since they're 300 everywhere else. But I have never really played modern, I play standard. What are some Modern staples for red/green? Thats what I was think of building after i get the box. If you want to post some of your R/G modern decks, i'd love to take a look at them, as i dont really have a plan for what direction I want to go with my deck. Thank you tappedout community, you're the best.

Holy crap does your store sell online?

As far as Green/Red modern staples go:

Goblin Guide
Grim Lavamancer
Tarmogoyf
Kitchen Finks
Birthing Pod
Lightning Bolt

...just to name a few.

Bloodbraid Elf is... Banned... Just realised that little fact.

They banned Bloodbraid Elf in an attempt to nerf the Jund decks that were dominating the meta, but Bloodbraid Elf wasn't really a key card for those decks. Jund just swapped in Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip and kept going. The ban hit storm hard, though, because Seething Song was banned at the same time.

Tarmogoyf is essential.

Goblin Guide is essential.

Flinthoof Boar is essential.

RG Aggro is a very fun deck in Modern. I highly suggest proxy-ing it up, and seeing how you like it. Msg me if you have any other questions, or what have you, about Modern.

Hey, thanks everyone. @ sylvannos: My LGS is so small, like crazy small. they do not sell on line. Its actually pretty lame a lot of the time because only like 8-10 people will show up for FNM. But anyways, back to the subject at hand. Goblin guide is something ill probably use, seems pretty nifty.Epochalyptik, those lists are very helpful. Looks like Jund is still dominating, but thats not what I want to build this time, i always play Jund. @ AlexOAwesome, i dont think im going to go aggro, i play aggro in standard and I think its time for a change of pace. Yes, yes Tarmogoyf a obviously pretty solid green dude, but its the kind of card you want to run 4-of, which is going to be tough to acquire.

oh make no mistake Bloodbraid Elf was a big hit to jund. but crippling, hardly, really what it did is it opened up jund to new flavors of decks rather than the established cookie cutter deck.

losing the elf also made another elf even more valuable, Deathrite Shaman and its counter part Grim Lavamancer . but really the value of the deathrite shaman went up big time, pushing down the lavamancer a fair amount, it opened the door up to more graveyard hate, with out having to purge your own, an other source of life gain, also a minor mana fix system that gave the fetches added value.

but we do have other toys and tools, the Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip , goblinguide, Bloodhall Ooze , the odd ball Burning-Tree Shaman , and all 5 swords, went from variant swap cards to being played, even a hellkite in the side board is not unheard of

then there is that purtrid Lingering Souls sillyness that was tossed in,

the other one we are seeing are new scavenge variants, making use of Varolz, the Scar-Striped and Death's Shadow , as the two big feature cards, Vexing Devil is also seeing some love in these decks along with Ball Lightning , Cosmic Larva , Force of Savagery that i have seen in other decks, mainly Force of Savagery but i have seen the other two as well, both in a very red heavy deck black and green were little more than spash
