I use City of Brass in my decks and was wondering why I don't see it and more like it being used more often . Any ideas ?

Granted. I just think using lands like that give you more options. Just when my opponent thinks he has my deck figured i can swap in my sideboard and change my deck strategy.

Transguild Promenade would do that for you if you'd be willing to tap another land when it comes out. and it wouldn't deal you damage everytime you tap it.

@maxon it also comes into play tapped though, so it's unusable the turn you play it and you have to pay 1 colorless to put it into play which can easily set you back a whole turn.

Although life is expendable, if you spend too much of it, it can be costly. Even pain lands such as Yavimaya Coast have an option to tap for colourless without paying life. If City of Brass had an option to tap without life loss, it would see more play, but in 2/3 colour decks, shock lands do the same job and will probably lose you less life in the long run.

For the most part with the deck I'm playing it's over in 6 rounds win or lose but i understand the comments.

Because most decks are 2 or maybe 3 colours, and between shocks, fetches, and checklands, you don't generally need something like City of Brass for colour fixing, and the damage is not the best thing.
