My lgs is having a modern tournament in a few weeks.I am 14 and I am on a budget of $50. I am not looking to win, just to have fun. I want a fun modern budget deck for $50, I am new to modern. Here are my guidelines:most of the cards should common, uncommon, or bulk rares. I will spend some money on one $5-$10 card. I was going to build mono u tron with darksteel colossus, blightsteel colossus, and steel hellkite's along with a singleton emrakul, the aeons torn. I already have all of these. Is this a good idea.
The reason why Mono-U Tron tends to be more expensive than $50 (though it's still probably the cheapest good Modern deck in existence) is because of your fatties and Remand . If you replace the latter with Mana Leak or something like that and if you already have the fatties, then you're in good shape.
For another good choice, look up any deck that has Amulet of Vigor in it. There are occasionally some in the MTGO results, and Gerry Thompson and Sam Black have written about them on SCG and Wizards.com, respectively. It's a very inexpensive deck that can pull some fun shenanigans, but you really have to understand the stack to make it work right.

Deck i made in about 5mins and found was hilarious is pretty cheap. Not sure if you count Puresteel Paladin as a bulk rare, then you're fine. He's $1.50 and the deck costs $32 overall.

What about Affinity? I mean, the Mox Opal 's and Arcbound Ravager 's are fairly pricey, but Magic is not a cheap game. I honestly think with Affinity, you get more bang for your buck.

I just save up and get one big card a week, that worked for me. I had to quit getting food while I'm not at home and cutting out Dunkin Donuts coffee but it worked for me.

Your average pump infect deck is about $30, without side-board. Sideboard can generally double to triple that.
Mine is a fairly good approximation, it contains a bit of late game help as well as the occasional turn 2 win, even against other aggro decks.

Obviously a more expensive version of the deck, running 17 islands and 3 ghost quarter is ~$100 cheaper on the mana base, plus subbing out thalia, and only using 2/3 aethervials saves another ~$40
Built merfolk as it kept constantly popping up in SCG top 8s and its relatively cheap.
Infect is also cheap, $20/$30 will get you turn 3 wins, or turn 4 loss basically.
Modern goblins can also be done, although Im not sure what the price build would be looking towards.

@ mckin
Goblins generally nets you around $100-$250, depending on whether or not you run Cavern of Souls and what your side-board is.

Zombie Treasure Hunt is super cheap and pretty hilarious to watch go off. The deck is basically 4 Treasure Hunt , 1-2 Zombie Infestation and 50+ lands.

Your idea is really good. I run that kind of deck except its a lot of money. You can go tron with Urza lands or you can buy 4 Quicksilver Amulet . That probably would work better but it's all about how you think.

my gift of demon's blood deck is pretty interesting and fun to play, also about 50$, but there are a few mythics, but most of the cards are fairly recent, so they are still fairly cheap

Turbo Infect is pretty decent budget wise, though it plays pretty one-sided. You either win T3 or you lose.
Mono-U Tron is also viable as budget, but I think you'd need to increase your limit to 100 $ to really make it work.
