Looking for something new.

Due to recent bannings, I am without a deck. I was looking into, and I am having a hard time finding something that 1, worth to build, and 2, not gonna get banned soon. Here's what I am looking at:
Merfolk
Dead-Guy Ale
UWx control(more so just straight UW)
What are your opinions? What will be good, and if you have any other suggestions, I wouldn't mind.

I personally say none of the above. Play B/W Smallpox. It consistently wrecks most decks.

With the meta shaping up to be what it's looking like, Merfolk might be the best bet out of those options. It can easily splash white to shore up some of its traditional weaknesses, and it can go heavy on the mana-denial plan which should be good against Tron and the new Eldrazi decks.

I'm currently building land go America control. I have a buddy on dead Guy Ale.. Both great decks. My main is mono blue tron, and that's also super fun control style play.

@Serendipitous_Hummingbird I would think so. And it really seems fun. And you dodged a serious bullet. I played twin, but Scapeshift is really not my type of deck.
@TheFoilAjani Alright then. Can you give me a sample list? I'm kinda interested. Not exactly a big fan of Smallpox though.
@GeminiSpartanX It really did seem good with how things are going modern. I also love blue, too, and AEther Vial.
@Tyqar Draw-go style control is my personal favorite, but is it good right now? And yeah, dead-guy ale. I think it'd be pretty decent, with all the discard and kill spells. Maybe a little light on threats, though. As for U-Tron, not really wanting to build something that has a high chance of getting banned, so no.

Merfolk is the most competitive of the options presented, both now and going forward. Fast and aggressive is always a good combination, plus you have enough interaction to slow down anyone who could otherwise outrace you.

My list: A Pox on Both Your Houses!.
In my list I made a lot of budget cuts. Contact TurnOneThoughtseize, they play Pox a lot.
Most decks can't handle turn 2 Pox. It shuts out tron, tears apart Lantern Control, kills a portion of affinity, delays living end (not as effective, but fine) and can hurt many other decks.

@car I am not the biggest fan of hatebears, so probably not.
@rothgar13 I am starting to think that. Merfolk just seems sweet anyways, and has been a deck I would like to get into.
@APPLE01DOJ That seems pretty sweet! It is just slightly out of my price range, but definitely a cool idea, especially with Tron and Eldrazi Black running around.
@TheFoilAjani I do kinda like that. Reminds me a bit of 8-Rack. I'll check it out more then. I do like Dead-Guy Ale a little more though, but that does boil down to the fact I can play Brimaz, King of Oreskos, one of my favorite pet cards.

well if you like Brimaz, try this deck. Lifted Research Group
the deck is really good. suffers verse Scapeshift though.

That looks like a really fun deck. I could build something like that. And it does seems like it would lose bad to Scapeshift. Aven Mindcensor and Leonin Arbiter can do some damage on that, for sure.

GabeCubed if you like blue and AEther Vial, have you looked at eternal command decks? Here's a great article on it.

@car Thanks! I appreciate it.
@Serendipitous_Hummingbird(not going to lie, but your username is something to type. I have to look at it at least once whenever I am typing it) I have checked them out before. Depending on the money, those really do seem like a blast to play.

@rothgar13 Could you give me a good sample list for a Merfolk deck? Or a primer, so I can adjust a little bit. I think that's what I'll make, or maybe Bant CoCo instead.

money is the only thing keeping me from playing it as well.
I'll never be able to justify dropping that kind of money on a deck.

@Serendipitous_Hummingbird I completely understand, it is a lot of money. I can handle decks around $500-$700, but I never could build something like Jund, which kinda sucks. And it is hard to.

I played an awesome bant Coco list recently that played almost like legacy maverick.. But because it's not legacy it feels more like a beaters deck. Not a lot of flexibility or answers, but a lot of staying power because of the threat density.

Dead Guy Ale is always fun. Catches people off guard, too.
I traded out of twin recently so I feel like a dodged a bullet there, but I've recently begun picking up ad nauseam.
If you're looking for a deck like twin, the closest is probably Scapeshift.
If you're looking for a deck like titan, I have nothing for you. Tron is big mana but it doesn't feel similar the way twin and scapeshift do.
