So you're telling me I should have to reacquire cards every so often, adapt to a new meta, and play outside of an established format?

Not telling you that you should do anything. Just offering up an idea I had. You don't have to like it.

Love having a sarcastic gif to start my thread. Really going to help discussion flow in a good direction.

I mean, I play modern because it doesn't rotate. This is a rotating modern. If you're into that sort of thing, sure I guess?

I'm just putting forth my honest reaction. One of the major things that makes Modern appealing to people is that they can drop 1.5K on a deck and have it be decent for a long while. Even if the meta changes somewhat, you'll never lose out on tons of value. The same applies to knowledge of the format. Lots of people don't like needing to brew all the time and keep up with major shifts. It represents a significant investment of time. Not saying that this doesn't exist in modern, but the format's been fairly stable for a long while now.

Besides, many people agree with WoTC's decision to ban cards. Imagine having to live in a world where people begin to Bloodbraid Elf into Kolaghan's Command. I mean, I guess we're all doing that now. Olivia Voldaren who? But that's ok, because in 3 months, every match is going to time as Sensei's Divining Top brings Miracles into Modern!

In addition, who would be the ones placed in charge of making the call of how and when the rotation happens? What qualifications do these individuals need to fulfill? What determines the order of the rotation? There's just tons of uncertainty here.

Finally, what's the point of brewing up this custom format in the first place? There's practically 0 chance WoTC will begin sanctioning it, especially given that it heavily encroaches on the space of one of their existing formats.

So forgive me if I found your suggestion to be silly enough to warrant a sarcastic .gif. I seriously doubt a real conversation will form around this topic.

It was mostly an idea for small tournaments on untap or something like that. Trying to bring variance.

Modern will lose favor. I believe there will be some sort of rotation/move away from it a couple years down the line.

I read an article on the reasoning for the twin ban, and it made some interesting points about how it was not based on the card's strength necessarily. I was trying to get the discussion to bring out some details. (why I posted it in BE first) since it wasn't a complete idea.
