Modern?..

I have played standard for ages now, but I am getting bored of it... To me it seems like the options are so limited?

Anyway, I am thinking of shifting to modern... Should I?

PS: What modern deck can i make with 2x Ugins (BUDGET but I already have the ugins)

I'm doing it and you should too! I'm going to swim upstream and try a dredge build focusing on Life from the Loam and Zombie Infestation with Conflagrate for reach. I'll probably get hated out by Relic of Progenitus and/or Rest in Peace... but whatever, dredge is fun.

Budget has pretty broad implications in Modern and a price range would probably be better suited to helping people provide feedback. Also, just cuz you have 2x Ugin, the Spirit Dragon doesn't mean you need to run him. Only deck that does, that I'm aware of, is Tron and I've no idea how a budget list would work, if at all.

The best Ugin deck is currently Tron. Although they really only run 1 Ugin. There's also a sweet "Time Walkers" deck that takes advantage of planeswalkers like Garruk Wildspeaker and Narset Transcendent alongside cards like Time Warp and Savor the Moment.

green tron would be good. if u can afford chord of calling, prime time and a few other stuff, it would be great. u could use 2 ugins, conduit of ruin, newlamog(if u can afford it) oblivion sower, reality smasher, and void winnower.

DO IT DO IT DO IT

No seriously, Modern is a very fun format. Powerful but not insane like Legacy. And 2x Ugin could work in either U-Tron or RG-Tron, though U-Tron is a much cheaper deck.

With 2 ugins and a budget, you play blue tron. That's the only option. Don't try to make a bad green red tron, as it will be, well, bad.

Thanks everyone!

Stupid question time...

Why is it called tron?

PS: Can someone show me an example decklist?

PPS: JWiley129 I love the Timewalkers idea! Can i see an example decklist for that? Thanks

Because of the "Tron" lands, Urza's Mine, Urza's Tower, and Urza's Power Plant that the deck revolves around.

Here's an example of a mono-U tron list.

Control & Conquer: Mono-Blue Tron is my list.

Tron refers to the Urza lands. Urza's Tower, Mine, and Powerplant.

The lands are called the "Tron lands" because of the old anime "Voltron". You can go look up Voltron to see why it makes sense.

Here is a DTK version of the Timewalkers list. So you can customize it from there based on what you have.

It stands for urzatron which is a combination of urza, in reference to the lands themselves, and voltron like separate pieces coming together to make a stronger whole

Thanks!

I kind of want to do a superfriends-style thing..? Is that a thing/budget possible?

The words budget and superfriends do not really go well together.

@xavrr build this. Best combo deck in modern! (I actually think it is now that twin and bloom are out.)

Zombie Hunt is best combo in Modern

=D

All of the Walkers that see Modern play in some form are expensive (unless I'm forgetting one?). Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. Liliana of the Veil. Karn Liberated. Is JaceVP played? He's expensive too.

Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip I do believe see's play in Grixis.

Also he's played lots in Legacy I do believe.

Oh wait, you could play Tooth and Nail. It can definitely accommodate Ugin(s), ramps very fast, uses other walkers (Garruk, Nissa, Worldwaker), and has a toolbox approach that allows it to answer most situations. And look, who doesn't like a T4 hasty Emrakul, the Aeons Torn?

Ohh yeah Tooth and Nail is so much fun.
