Modern, A New Beginning
Modern forum

I began playing Magic around the time of Avacyn Restored and in that time i have only delved into one format- Standard. Partially because A) It was the most accessible format to me and B) That is the format of my FNM. But now that i have been playing magic for awhile now i am attempting to get into some other formats, specifically modern. Now, i will start by saying this: I am a highschool sophomore without the knowledge of some of you teenagers on here that pool in the money to buy all these decks. Basically, what i am saying is that i am poor. But, i want a fairly decent deck to get myself into this format. I have constructed four decks, and i want to pull the thoughts of the tappedout community on which of these is the best bet for me to start out with. I will give the pros and cons for me personally on each deck, so let's begin.
Dracula's Dinner Party Playtest
Modern
SCORE: 1 | 0 COMMENTS | 48 VIEWSPros: Fun, I absolutely love tribal and finally it is pretty damn cheap.
Cons: Not incredibly competitive, unsure of how it will react with the meta.
Knightfolks Playtest
Modern
SCORE: 1 | 7 COMMENTS | 274 VIEWSPros: I love tribal, Is fast and aggressive enough to keep up with some of the meta.
Cons: Not as fun as some of the others to play, lacks removal and isn't as price friendly as i'd like it to be.
Blink and You're Dead Playtest
Modern
SCORE: 0 | 0 COMMENTS | 1 VIEWSPros: Super fun, has some good interactions, pretty good removal.
Cons: Unsure of how it will interact with other decks in the meta, slow start, little pricey.
Pros: Is already proven to be somewhat effective, i like the playstyle, is pretty fun to play.
Cons: I strongly dislike netdecking, it is vulnerable to removal and once again is pricey.
Now let me just clarify, i am not looking for a deck that will win me a pro tour. Most likely the play this will see is between matches at an FNM or at a once-in-a-blue-moon Modern FNM night. I will say my least favorite of the three is the Soul Sisters build, simply because i didn't build it only tweak it which is important to me. So, with all that being said, help me decide which deck to start out my modern career with!

Some ideas if needed, fun deck :)

Really, if you don't want to be going full-on pro tour competitive, you can do basically anything in modern. As such, go with whatever you most like, which seems to be your vampire deck. I've posted a few suggestions on how you might want to tune it on the deck page, but it seems good enough to win a few games with only a few minor changes.

I would go with the Vampire deck. My first deck was a mono black reanimator based on Sheoldred, Whispering One . The deck isn't competitive but still fun as hell to play. I went as far as to foil the deck out because I enjoy it so much. U need a deck that is just fun for u to play to really get into the format. IMO

If you're not worried about being competitive you could try any of these three. But realistically, if you want to win games or get into the Modern format competitively, I wouldn't recommend any of them - especially if you need to buy cards to complete them. If you're going to play against competitive Modern players you will lose almost every game. That's not going to give you good experience in the format, and it won't be encouraging.
If you want to just play casual for now, build the decks you really want to play and put in proxies, and then slowly build your favorite one. It took me over a year to save up and find bargains on cards to build my Modern deck, but it's better in the long run than spending money on a deck that won't break you into the format.

I would go with Dracula's Dinner Party as it seems by far the most fun to play.
