Modern Budget Ideas

My LGS is starting a modern event soon and the opportunity to play more magic is great, except I have no modern deck and my cards suck. The best I was able to come up with was pretty much shot down. So! looking for budget ideas in modern from the tappedout community. Not looking to copy anyone's builds, just general ideas so I can see what my options are. Thanks!
What's your budget? What colors do you want to play? Do you have any shock/fetch lands already?

Sorry, forgot to add in $20-40 is optimal. Colors I'm pretty flexable with, though not big on mono blue. No I don't own any shocks/fetchs, a few tapped lands.

$20-$40? I can't think of a single thing you could viably play.

On second thought, mono-green Stompy isn't that bad, although it's a bit out of your budget. You might be able to build something like that.

Allies are fun, quite cheap and have been slowly gaining more support and will probably get more cards in battle for zendikar.

This list placed 2nd at an event recently and can be built for $35. Hope this helps!

A strong one is Jund Living End with no Fulminator Mage and all basic lands. It can be built for about $40-50, and either that or Mono-Green Aggro will definitely put up the best results out there for you. Do you happen to know what your meta looks like?

No clue yet what the meta looks like as my LGS hasn't hosted one yet. It's still in the works, just deciding on the 'when in the week'. The Mono green seems like a solid idea though, maybe try to tweek it a bit so I'm not stealing someone elses thunder. Will look up the Jund Living End though, see what it's about.

Mono red goblins without the Aether vials and goblin guides might be cheap. A friend of mine runs that and his list is solid for the most part though he agrees he'd rather have the vials and guides.

You can make an ultra budget deliver deck I'm sure...probably mono blue

Just go mono red burn without Guide. That will make it for the 40$. Bolts arent't that expensive.

My idea, tested for over a year, works quite good. Half of the deck price is Spellskite - cut them out, put two another Judge's Familiar instead and you can go. Can't beat merfolks so far, but if Twin, Tron etc. won't have perfect draws to start their win cons before turn 5, there is at least a good option for you to make a real mess and have a lot of fun about it ;)

Here, check some of my budget fun decks, usually I keep most of them private since I'm too lazy to write a description and I don't really care about views or score.

Could go for Infect? I'm not too sure how expensive it's gotten but I'm pretty sure there was a budget list around here somewhere

No idea on price, but my friend's old Champion of the Parish mono white human tribal was punishing. It couldn't be much because he doesn't spend a lot of money.
Maybe build part of a modern deck and swap out cards when you can? Modern abzan runs Siege Rhino which is in standard. So do you have any standard competitive decks? While it's a long shot if you have a great hand vs a bad hand you could win but our chances are slim.
I'd just go with living end, cheep without certain cards

It would be possible to build a farily good White Weenie. Champion of the Parish, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Gather the Townsfolk, etc wouldn't be that bad.

Burn, mono red burn is the easiest to pilot, and can be one of the cheapest builds.
