what is the cheapest variant of birthing pod, know none are cheap, but budget wise would it be easier to make, bant, kiki jiki, meliria or something among those lines? what about mono green?
They are all roughly the same, within $50 or $100. If you don't have Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker , then just go with Melira, Sylvok Outcast . Twin Exarch is similar to Kiki-pod, and might be a little cheaper.
Ultimately, if you are going to play magic longterm, you will need the lands anyway, so those really shouldn't be considered into your calculation.

Twin Exarch is not that bad price wise only big money your dropping is on 2x Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker , even right now getting steam vents only plays out to $30 for the whole set in perspective is a lot less then the other shocks right now! Meliria pod would probably be the cheaper, but you're still looking at 400-$500 on the land base. Mono green would be dirt cheap, but probably wouldn't be competitive.
