Hey, I got to thinking, and what I thought was: Arclight Phoenix could use Chandra's Phoenix. I know it won't be reanimated, making it one of the lower rated phoenixes, but it makes all your discard spells (Faithless, Chart, Tormenting) so much more powerful when combined with a Bolt. This let's you discard more non-Bolt cards, and let's you 'Combo' more. This applies more to Runaway Red then UR Arclight.

Dredge4life. I am aware I mentioned it^^, I thought that recurring fodder for Faithless Looting Tormenting Voice would be nice after playing Runaway Red.

I would think that Squee, Goblin Nabob would be better for that, and that still would be too clunky. Phoenix just doesn’t do enough for a three mana spell in Modern. A 2/2 for 3 isn’t going to cut it in a deck that’s trying to fire up multiple 3/2s in a single turn.

Ah, but Dredge4life, Squee, Goblin Nabob doesn't return to your hand multiple times a turn, which is crucial if your plan to be actually gaining value with faithless.

The situation where you want to go Looting, Bolt, Looting, Bolt seems very win-more to me. If the payoff for RRRR is to put a three mana 2/2 flyer into your hand after casting four spells, then I don’t think it’s worth it.

TypicalTimmy I was looking at recurring hand fodder, not more reanimation :). Instead of Grapeshot, Runaway Red uses Shrine of Burning Rage, I can see the argument for GS though. Kiln Fiend can just be chumped, and I already have enough two-drops. Thanks for the suggestions though, I will try them anyway. :)

The power of Arclight Phoenix is its ability to go directly into play. Chandra's Phoenix unfortunately only goes back to your hand, so I don’t think it’s worth the include. It’s a cool card, though.
