Hi guys, i had been playing MTG since a couple of years ago, but i usually played it casual... now i'm moving to another country so I want to start with modern too... I'm at this moment trying to finish my Living End deck... but I want to build another one... a budget one... my limit is kind of 100$ I know the lands can increase so much the decks value... so I'm talking about build a budget deck without thinking in the lands (exept for something like the deck really needs because an effect or something...) for up to 100$ and that can be used in modern... I mean... I'm not looking for tier 1 or something like that... but something that could win... or at least that doesn't loose all the time... I was thinking in something with Alesha, Who Smiles at Death cuz i really like that card... or Spellheart Chimera or I don't know... whatever you thing it could be good... and if it cost lesst then it would be really great! thanks!

The only decks that you can build for under $100 (and even that's stretching it) that are competitive are U-Tron and Living End. You could also try a budget Delver build, but it won't be nearly as good as the original one.

Just take off Snapcaster Mage and the fetches and you can have a pretty decent budget Delver deck for around $100.

I'd actually recommend proxying some of the more famous competitive decks for Modern (you can find some sample decklists here) as the first step toward learning the format. You can work your way up to these guys in terms of finances, but the key step IMO is to gather knowledge.

All these "..." made me read this thread in the voice of the goth kids from South Park and it made my day, so thanks!

Anyways, Delver and U-Tron can both be pretty budget if you cut a couple expensive cards, so check those out. Alesha, Who Smiles at Death and Spellheart Chimera are both very lackluster in modern, but if you search enough you can probably find some better versions with similar effects (if you want to create an entire brew). If you are looking to be competitive, I'd recommend sticking with one of the established archetypes, albeit budget at first, and building up to the full-on deck. However, if you really don't care about tiers and competitive play, casual modern is a wide open format and you can literally do anything you want. So I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for, but I hope you find it either way!

If you're building a budget deck, don't expect to win. Though, Restore Balance decks are pretty interesting and cheap. That's the only >$100 deck I can think of which isn't strictly worse because of financial concerns.
