Podless Melira Pod?
Modern forum

Im sitting here with my Birthing Pod deck and crying over the loss of that one card that was pretty important. Now its a modern junk with way to many one ofs. How will people adjust their decks to be playable without the pod? Im gonna keep the melira combo, and increase Chord to 4. Im adding a second Thrun and maybe some Path to Exile or Abrupt Decay. How are you gonna deal with the loss of the pod?

Well, I've been playing a budget dedicated combo version for a while, and it's been doing pretty well. I think if this deck becomes a thing, Time of Need is a great way to find Melira, and Blood Artist with Bloodthrone Vampire and some other dudes lets you do huge amounts of damage w/o comboing

Melira was really bad in pod BEFORE pod was banned. It's definitely not playable now...

I'm just trading off my pod deck. No sense in trying to save it. It's Tarmogoyf or no green, essentially. Maybe you can turn it into some sort of junk aristocrats, but it's T3 at best.

Goddamnit I just had to sell my main deck for money because of my financial problems and my only other deck is a birthing pod deck I just finished :/ I can definitely see why people quit magic so much...

I dont think the Birthing Pod banning was fair. Why not just ban Siege Rhino or one of their actual threats rather than the actual enabler.

Because for a few years Wizard's philosophy has been "Fuck combo, the three deck types are aggro, ramp, and control" since bad players who don't interact to disrupt don't like losing in a single turn. Banning Pod screws over not just Junk midrange pod, but also Melira Pod and Kiki Pod. Both of the combo decks have fallen out of favor recently but they could probably have had a resurgence if they had banned a threat instead of the Pod.

I disagree. Pod decks in general were far too powerful, and after several frustrating tournaments with everyone running melira pod, I nearly stopped playing modern. On the other hand, siege rhino is more difficult to commit to, leading to one of the most diverse formats we've seen in modern on quite a while.
