Is it just me or the popularity of Tron is decreasing?

I hope so, I need to get some grove of the burnwillows for my punishing Jund in legacy. I'm sick of borrowing them. Lol.

Somewhat. It has not posted nearly as good results in the last couple tournaments. It looks hard to aggro, any land hate, and UWx decks. It's a solid deck but I don't foresee it being the powerhouse some believed.

Tron beats up on greedy manabases and other midrange decks. The most obvious is Jund. Cast Sundering Titan ? Boom, you're down to zero lands. Play All Is Dust ? Instant three-for-one. Your only targets for Abrupt Decay are eggs and Lightning Bolt is just a Lava Spike ? Half the cards in your deck are dead weight.

With the decline of Jund and other B/G/x decks, Tron is now facing more combo decks that aren't kept in check by Jund's hand disruption. Its best match-up has gone away, while its worst matches have become more popular.

Tron will definitely continue to be a thing in Modern, but I think the R/G version is dead at this point with so many creatures available now that can dodge Pyroclasm .

Tron will never die, but it doesn't make the most sense with the way the meta is shaping up. Zoo and combo coming around is a nightmare for tron decks to handle.

Give me the G/B decks back. DRS made the format fun.

APPLE01DOJ, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more G/B/x decks coming around at some point. The meta just really needs to stabilize first.

I hope so, I want to play GTron in modern, and I'm on a budget, so if the prices for the cards go down, I can make it.

Even if the popularity decreases it's still a tier 1 deck and the prices of the cards won't decrease much. MAYBE $5, but don't count on Karn going below $40 and Kozilek and Wurmcoil won't decrease much either.
