Reshaping Gifts ungiven

Gifts Ungiven has always been my favorite blue card in modern. With return to ravnica offering some new toys for esper decks in modern, I have been wondering if a revival of the deck could happen. I realize this may be a stretch but a turn 4 or 5 Iona still wins games 9 times out of 10. Before I dive head first into this deck, I want to get the general assumption of gifts in the current meta and what changes to the deck that can be made.

I am a big fan of Gifts Ungiven also, and completely agree with you. I have a U/W Tron deck that has it in there and my deck seems to still overthrow the metagame when I play it. Since RtR, Detention Sphere is the only card that has gone in. I love the deck and its the one im using at the upcoming PTQ's.

Gifts Ungiven and Unburial Rites is already a big thing in Modern. You end up with an Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite or an Iona on turn 5 with decent consistency.

No, the gifts "combo" is not big in the modern metagame anymore.
