Rise Of The Aristocrats!!!

So guys, I'm sure most of you tuned into the recent pro tours. Now although Splinter Twin won, the deck that I'm talking about was aristocrats. I really believe that it could become a viable archetype in modern. Basically it uses creatures like Cartel Aristocrat and Doomed Traveler and such to win games. Now it can be played as Orzhov, for consistency or abzan or mardu for extra goodies. Now I came, as well as to tell about this deck, to ask which colour you think are better. Should I go abzan, for the Abrupt Decays, Voice of Resurgences and such, or mardu for Butcher of the Hordes and Falkenrath Aristocrat. P.s I'm leaning towards abzan.
What does aristocrats do that Rock or Abzan decks does not do better. Not all standard decks make it to modern IMO, but I can applaud you for trying.
Butcher is the best aristocrat printed for the deck, so I would go for Mardu.

Although Mardu would be a ton of fun to play as well and Butcher of the Horde can't die to bolt or abrupt decay which is nice

I don't see how the deck does well at all. I mean, sure, it's cute, but little one drops and Blood Artist just don't seem like they'd get the job done.
If I were going to build the deck, i'd run a full 4 Lingering Souls main, which I don't believe that the PT guy had, as well as 4 Butcher of the Horde and 2 Falkenrath Aristocrat. Why is Viscera Seer even in there? The deck just seems too small to have any real impact. I mean, when you're facing down a Wurmcoil Engine or Siege Rhino turn three or four, your 3 1/1s aren't going to do much.

I can't speak to the Modern build, but in Standard it's greatest strength was the use of Tragic Slip for cheap, efficient removal. This combined with Lingering Souls and Liliana of the Veil made it very hard for anything to get to your life total before you could start swinging with Falkenrath Aristocrat, which is very tough to kill. The whole while they were losing life, even just a little at a time, from Blood Artist (who also warded of wraths).

I think I might try this out, with a few tweaks. I think you could remove Viscera Seer and be alright. I would add 3-4 Lingering Souls and a Gavony Township. It might not hurt to also run something a little more bulky to top of the curve... so basically 2x Siege Rhino. Mind you I don't have access to Voice of Resurgence right now so... yeah. Might work though.

The Aristocrat deck got alot of good cards recently and its by far cheaper to make up for the fact its not quite as powerful as the rock or an abzan version. I saw the butcher mentioned but there is a reason Brutal Hordechief is holding his price point without much play. This card is nuts.

I'm a fan of the Abzan list. I've been tesing the deck a lot, and Abzan Ascendancy is super powerful in the deck. It's also nice that the extremely low curve allows for Return to the Ranks to get back every creature card in the deck. I think the Abzan version has an even to favorable matchup against any fair deck. It's pretty weak to combo, but that's what sideboards are for!

Great deck, have you seen the inside the deck video about it, found here? I would lean towards Abzan because it has better removal and Abzan colours are more well suited for the meta
