Room for Reality Shift?

Alright, so I'm not familiar with modern like you are. Please don't be snarky, but let's have a chat. Reality Shift versus Path to Exile - do you think there's room for Reality Shift in modern? It's not quite the same card. It has the same major effect, but it almost seems better, but I'm no expert. Tell me what you think.

CMC 1 > CMC 2. There are also many situations in which you don't want to exile one creature and replace it with a 2/2.

If you have access to blue and not white, then maybe. It's similar to Swan Song, and both are better if you can make the drawback meaningless, either by winning too fast to have it hurt you or by innately not caring. Scapeshift often uses Swan Song to protect the combo, and since they usually win on the spot the 2/2 doesn't matter.

It's a similar concept here, but I'm not sure what decks want to exile a creature but don't care about the 2/2.

If you don't have access to white, then Reality Shift could be useful in a deck, but Path to Exile is a lot better, it's one CMC cheaper, which becomes very relevant in a fast format like modern, and it doesn't replace itself with another creature(Even if the creature is almost always worse)

by "replace itself", I mean replace the creature, sorry, I am listening to podcast and I can't type words and listen to them at the same time

There's a reason stuff like Rapid Hybridization doesn't see play. In modern, playing around that drawback takes more effort than opting to go for the best removal options in your colors.

TheDevicer, while I agree with you for the most part, Reality Shift has much more potential then Rapid Hybridization because it exiles, that means it shuts down lots of relevant modern cards(Kitchen Finks, Voice of Resurgence, Scavenging Ooze, ect.). I think people will try it in some modern decks that don't use white. But I don't know if it will stick, only time can tell.

The difference between CMC 1 and CMC 2 is huge. Path is a far better card because it also doesn't give your opponent any board advantages.

Exiling is a good point. I think it might see sideboard play. As it is, anything with Selsun Blue will be having some really cheap removal like Dismember or Slaughter Pact handy.

Dismember is painful to use, especially if you need to use multiples, so I can see there are occasions where a rogue bear is a better alternative. But, again, it's the vs thing.
