Is Sanctum of Ugin useful in modern tron? It basically rewards them for doing what they already want to do.
That's pretty much what I was wondering. I mean it's obviously useful to them, like I said, it basically rewards them for doing what they were already doing. I just wasn't sure if there really was room for it because I know they have a pretty straight forward mana base like you mentioned.

I play 2 GQ's in mine. I think it might be worth trying out for giggles by replacing one GQ. I don't think it's the best, but it wouldn't hurt to try at FNM or something.

U Tron is more flexible on its mana base. It could be worth a go in mono U. The base is typically 12 Tron lands, 1 Oboro, Palace in the Clouds 1 Tolaria West, 1 Tectonic Edge, 7 Island, 1 Academy Ruins. Tolaria is a flexible spot. It mostly serves as Expedition Map number 5 or to fetch Pact of Negation once in a blue moon. If you need a counter that bad, you're usually dead anyway. Tectonic Edge can be done away with in most metas, by the time you can use it, you can likely drop a Sundering Titan to much greater effect. Push comes to shove, the deck will run fine on 6 Islands, I did it for a bit and hardly noticed the difference.
I feel sanctum would help a good deal with the aggro matchups, Drop a Platinum Angel, because staying alive is good. Allows you to tutor for a follow up Wurmcoil Engine, and with both a wurmcoil and platinum angel on the field, most aggro decks will have a hard time from there on.

Its not horrible the only problem is finding a land slot your lands are all very specifically put in the deck for a reason. 12 tron lands 4 groves 1 forest 1 mountain 1 ghost quarter 1 eye of ugin.
