ive bin playing for a couple of years now but only went with standard. now i want to start with modern.
thing is i want to play some of my old cards like Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker and the like. problem is such things cost 8mana with seems like end of the world since all decks ive ever seen end at 4mana...
i by nature am a control player but i dont even have the slightest idea where to start.

You could try Grixis Control if you really want to use Bolas. Its a pretty rogue deck, and you have much better options, but hey.
I am going to go ahead and link CommanderOfBolas here, the creator of the deck in the second link. I feel the grixis fanatic may be of some assistance.

Thanks for linking me, Dalektable. Anyway, that list is way outdated right now. im pretty sure I made it before theros was released. I think I have a more current list up here, which I can link if you are interested. It doesn't have the great dragon planeswalker in it, but you could definitely make some alterations to my version.

i know it's not bolas himself, but you could go for a cruel control type deck

If you want to play Bolas and not get laughed at, play EDH. If you want him competitively, too bad.
The primer that Chief has linked is basically your bible, but ask around the internet, and test decks you like on Cockatrice before buying into anything.

Hey, thanks for linking me GlistenerAgent. Sagi007: I've been playing my Cruel Control deck for quite some time now, and it's served me well. However, I don't play Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker in mine. I play two Cruel Ultimatums and that's about it. The rest consists of some discard and removal and mostly counterspells with a few Snapcaster Mages thrown in. You could run Nicol Bolas but don't expect to win at the competitive level. You might be able to do well at FNM depending on your meta. My deck started out similar to how you wanted to include Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker, but the deck just wasn't good enough for my liking, so I removed him. If you ever need assistance with your deck, just post on my wall or something. Here's my deck list:
