Stoneforge Mystic Unbanning?

Modern forum

In the past couple of weeks, it was revealed as the 2016 GP Promo and it has risen about 50% over the past week. Is everyone speculating that it will be unbanned or am I missing something? I didn't see an unbanning. Another question is, how would an unbanning effect Modern? I wasn't around magic at the time before it's banning. Thanks for the help!

Please check the forums before asking questions. I believe there are already several discussions about this topic.

Dumb speculation. End of story.

As far as speculation goes I almost expect a reprint if an unbanning happens. She'd fit right into the current standard settings.

If we look back to when this info was released, the topic on everyone's mind was "Is Legacy a Dead Format", and I feel that Wizards used this reprint as their answer, "No".

I don't see an unbanning in modern. The next ban update is on the 22nd, btw, so we'll know for sure then.

DevoidMage Stoneforge Mystic is only played in 10.7% of legacy decks (according to mtgtop8) and still needs the associated Umezawa's Jitte or Sword though... It seems like reprinting it to say legacy isn't dead would be kinda like reprinting Pendelhaven to rejuvenate modern (if modern was dying). I mean its a great valuable card in certain niche decks, but those decks have other cost barriers, and aren't really any of the famous tier one decks of the format (like Miracles, Lands, or Storm). All that being said, I'm still not sold on Stoneforge Mystic coming back to modern, but I feel like with Kolaghan's Command running around, and the dwindling number of control decks in the format if there was a time to try letting Stoneforge Mystic loose on the format, now is the time. Who knows, maybe it will be the next Bitterblossom, something terrifying in its time, but not as broken as we all thought.

arcdevil No the speculation is because it's the next GP promo, which up until now has always been modern legal.
