Can anyone more experienced with modern than I am tell me why people don't run Stony Silence as a way to stop Pod.
Or maybe they do.....
There are many decks that play Stony Silence. I know I do in my Big Zoo Sideboard.

Stony Silence and others of it's ilk is why I run the Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas version of affinity, I may not be able to activate the ability of my artifacts but I can still make Vault Skirge or Darksteel Citadel a 5/5.

If you run them in the board you might bring in 1 maybe 2 if you're a deck that's also concerned with Spellskite . The big problem is that it doesn't do enough it basically only answers Birthing Pod and if they ever need to get rid of it they just Chord of Calling for Harmonic Sliver or Qasali Pridemage , and if you draw too many cards like this and they just switch into their beatdown plan. Likewise, that same slot could be a Grafdigger's Cage or Damping Matrix which not only hits Birthing Pod but other cards in the deck.

I ran them in my deck for a long time, but then I discovered Suppression Field , which loses to infinite mana, but no one plays that. my Esper Conscription deck runs 3 plainswalkers and 6 lands with abilities (yes fetches are abilities, cool huh?) and I can sideboard most of them in if i need to. playing that turn two and having an opponent only have fetches in their hand is hilariously sad.

Ohthenoises I guess it's nice if Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas is already down, but I feel like that sounds like it would have huge problems in the face of Stony Silence considering that normally 2/3rds of your color producing mana is an artifacts activated ability (Mox Opal , Springleaf Drum ). Relying on drawing double Glimmervoid s and/or basic land, if it's on color, is pretty slim odds.

I have Gemstone Mine to help as well, but that is a personal inclusion.

Believe it or not I HAVE had to play around Stony Silence before. There isn't too much that I can do since it neuters Arcbound Ravager but I usually win off of a 5/5 Vault Skirge or Inkmoth Nexus .

After watching coverage of the Pro Tour, decks that can run Stony Silence , will run Stony Silence against Pod. It also stops Affinity decks, which is another bonus.
