Super cheap deck Modern Intro Deck?
Modern forum

So I've been playing Standard since a little before Theros (and I'm not bored of it), but I wanted to try something new, and I think Modern seems interesting. I want to get into it, but apparently its a little more expensive than standard, and standard for me is already quite expensive. Are there any budget (<$50)modern decks that are good enough to let me have fun while getting introduced into the format and not get stomped on? Decklists appreciated :). Also, any general tips on the format would be cool! Thanks!
(If it's relevant, I have a playset of Hallowed Fountain , a single Abrupt Decay , a playset of Deathrite Shaman :( )

Exalted is a pretty cool ability and it's pretty cheap to build a competent modern deck around it. I'm building one right now and I think it might end up in the $50 ballpark. I'll post it in this thread when it's done so you can have a look if you like. For now, here's the list for all modern-legal exalted cards, in Gatherer.
An exalted deck probably won't be competitive against modern netdecks (in fact almost certainly not), but it's great for its weight class and it will hold its own against a wide array of opposing strategies, as long as you find a good balance between creatures, removal, and spells to protect you/your permanents.

Budget for modern is more like <200. You can't really get anything competitive for 50 bucks. This soul sisters build is pretty budget and reasonably competitive. You can also check out some of his other budget decks. If you change the land base in This is the (Living) End to mostly basics it's pretty cheap as well. Or, if you change up land base in this...

For something that isn't too serious you can make Zombie Hunt all you need in reality is basics, Zombie Infestation , and Treasure Hunt

Deathrite Shaman was banned recently. It'll only be useful as trade stock.

Modern is great because there is sooo much flexibility. If you really want to just get into the format, you can just build a deck that interests you. Obviously a mono colored deck would be your best bet, and you can do some fun and competitive things. But honestly, if you just plan on playing on an FNM, it doesnt need to be super competitive or tier one. A good option would be

All of these are just deck's i've found on the site, and although they're all great what i would recommend most is just finding and idea you like and doing it. But anyways, welcome to modern and enjoy your stay.

Modern is a little expensive. Earlier they said budget is less than 200 and that's true. But what's nice about modern is that the cards, for the most part always stay legal, meaning you won't have to change your deck as often as you do in standard. So the extra investment is worth it.

Or you could look into a Torpor Orb deck utilizing cards such as Hunted Horror , Eater of Days , and Treacherous Pit-Dweller . To help keep the Orb you could add in Glissa, the Traitor and/or cards like Treasured Find

I think I like the Torpor Orb idea. It seems pretty legit to me. Here's what I threw together with my no modern experience: No Triggers. I have no modern experience so I'm sure there are tons of mistakes.

Im in the same spot as you and started playing in Theros. This is the deck Im working on for modern, its fast and fun with a lot of small interactions. Most of the cost in the deck comes from the SB, Caverns and Guides. Cavern and SB can be changed to get the deck down to 50$-100$. And since Im a red mage at heart it also adds cards to the burn deck Im buying.

Sorry, just read that u said 50$ or less.
The only deck that really leaves is infect. While it's good for getting quick wins it's only enjoyable if u liek to piss people off as u beat their 2000$ deck with a budget deck full of pump spells.

I have a great deck right here:Budgety Living End. Doesn't play fetches, is pretty competitive, and wins quickly.

Alternatively, you could play MonoRed Burnout or Budget Combo Weird.

UR aggro can be quite cheap as long as there are no fetches, snapcasters, cliques, or Cryptic Command . May not be as competitive but not bad non the less
