The best Venser, the Sojourner deck?

Modern forum

Anybody think they have the best Venser, the Sojourner deck? I really like him and want to build a deck around him but don't know where to start.

Is this meant to be a competitive Modern deck? That's what I'd assume based on the forum you chose.

I don't think Venser, the Sojourner sees any (competitive) Modern play. It's too slow. I'm not really even sure what kind of deck could use it that wouldn't be better off without it.

Nevermind then.

The idea is still worth pursuing if you think you can make it work. I'm just mentioning that it hasn't yet been proven in any competitive deck. You'd be starting basically from the ground up.

Pretty much I would see it in a white blue aggroish controlish (mainly bounce like AEther Adept ) deck where you are just getting him out for is "-" ability to get through any board presence they may get. Other than that its all like epoch said

I like the Sundial of the Infinite and Oblivion Ring trick. End the turn before oblivion rings leaves-the-battlefield-effect resolves. You get it back at your opponents end step and the exiled creature remains exiled

My friend played an obnoxious Bant deck starting Venser himself that was consistently top three. I couldn't tell you the exact deck-list though. I can tell you to be prepared for long games to the point you could wind up with a few ties.

he's a one of in my modern american superfriends deck. 1 venser, 2 ajani vengeant, 2 jace beleren, 1 tamiyo, 1 jace memory adept, 1 assemble the legion. entire rest of the deck is built around 4 isochron scepters and removal. lightning helix, mana leak, spell snare, path to exile, silence etc... runs pretty well.

I have to agree that Reality Acid would be good for Venser. But if you want him to work on more than one card you shoud use Brago, King Eternal + Venser, the Sojourner . If Brago get his combat damage on target opponent you can use him to blink any number of your non-Land permanent (even Planeswalker). The trick is to make all creatures you control unblockable with Venser (including Brago), use Bragos effect reset Venser and use Venser to Blink another Permanent a second time. The cards I prefer to blink are Ivory Giant + Sunblast Angel because my creatures are [W/U] or only White. Next thing I realy like to blink are other Planeswalkers which is why I build a Planeswalker Deck around Brago, King Eternal + Venser, the Sojourner .With something like that you can get Elspeth Tirel to produce six Token and stay at four conters. Which is awesome with Vensers Unblockable effect. But there are more Planeswalker with strong second ability like Tezzeret the Seeker who can be used in this way to search for (3)-Mana-Artifacts every turn.Or Jace, the Living Guildpact Who can bounce two non-Landpermanents thanks to Brago and Venser and stay at 5 Loyalty. And my totaly Favourite card to Blink. Wing-Mate Roc ;). But the most important point in building a Deck around a Planeswalker is to use all of his/her ability and that you can use can also use them to win without the ultimate or you need to boost the Ultimate ;) For Planeswalker ultimates you need something the double or add counters like. Doubling Season, Gilder Bairn or cards with proliferate like Inexorable Tide (which is quite good in Decks where you play many spells which would be nice for Vensars Ultimate ;) )

This deck has a lot of field and deck control and of course you're silences and counters work amazingly you just stop your opponent from doing anything and rely on the 3/1 flyers and the 6/6 flyers to kill off your opponent but just remember this is a base build and I have a few extra cards I am going to put in to make it an amazingly fast censer control deck which speed is what this deck lacks but if you are smart and can set your hand well this deck has endless combos I love it for tht reason

I have a friend who runs a Bant blink deck with him, the golem slicers, and Stonehorn Dignitary. Its pretty cool and wins quite a bit.
