The most viable oppression cards in modern
Modern forum

Ive gone over a few people's decklists and I've ran into a lot of good oppression cards in the modern format. There was one that really stuck out. I forgot what it did but it's effect automatically spelled stun. Would you guys happen to know any good oppression/sun cards in magic?

Their plays a gonna get slowed down so they could prolly only cast one monster. And with that I could possibly take advantage and use a sorcery on my turn and leave a response open for their turn

So there are a few decks along these lines.
In legacy:Stasis: Using Stasis to lock the game down with a card like Garruk Wildspeaker or Ral Zarek to lock the game down/make them deck themselves. There are other ways to do it but I forget.
MUD: Use Sol Lands (lands that tap for 2 mana like Ancient Tomb and City of Traitors) to power out turn 1 Chalices or turn 1 Basalt Monolith into Trinisphere
Death and Taxes: Locks the game down with stuff like Thalia, Flickerwisp and land destruction with beats.
The Mighty Quinn: Mono white artifact/enchantment control that wins by locking people out the game with Iso Sceptre and a Silence card.
Stax: Lock people down with Smokestack, recurr lands off Crucible of Worlds, beat in with Elspeth.
As some of them.
In modern there is:
Hatebears: WG mid-controlish using taxing cards, land destruction and mana denial
WR Grizzly Stax: As seen here http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/rc/249 Uses cards to lock the game down with World Queller.
Decks like Scapeshift or Mono U/UW Tron can play Chalice of the Void and the like to stax people out too.

Why don't you just play ALL your responses in their turn?

Chalice of the Void gets set to 1 almost always in game 1, game 2 depends on what you are against. If I'm playing first against affinity, it gets set to 0. Trinisphere still slows down a lot of things, but it is definitely better in Legacy, I just need to find a way to get it out faster...

MUD and Death and Taxes in Legacy really sounds like what you're attempting to achieve. GW Hatebears in Modern is the next best thing. Chalice is good in Modern, but Trinisphere, Winter Orb, etc are better in Legacy. Ensnaring Bridge can work in the right deck. 8 Rack makes good use of it.
