Thoughts on Tezzerator

So, while browsing for ideas to use with my current U/B Control deck, I came across an interesting build that utilizes Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas and a toolbox full of Artifacts to play a control game. I was intrigued, so I built the deck combining a multitude of ideas from varying lists that I found. So far, I'm enjoying the deck since it's the most flexible deck I've ever played. It can start beating face by using Tezzeret, Agen of Bolas on T4, or it can grind the game out via card draw and minor control elements, yetis quick enough for the format due to the Talismans.
Anyway, what I wanted to know is what are your thoughts on the deck? Any experience with it at all?
Do you run Tezzeret the Seeker ?
I think NotSoLuckyLydia would like this thread.

Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas is probably used and much superior. his first ability helps the toolbox theme, his second condition is what i used to win the game (who wants to lose to a 5/5 Mox Opal ?). if you do get to use it, his ultimate is pretty goo. d

I have a U/b Tezzerator I run on Cockatrice. It's private on here but practically finished; I just need to stop being lazy. I never use Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas 's #2, usually because I have Ensnaring Bridge out and the -4 works too.
miracleHat, deck link?

@ miracleHat any chance you have a link to a decent Grixis Tezzerator build? Most of what I found either splashes Green or White.

There is this, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.

I don't actually have it on here. The person who i based the deck off of has made the deck private. I will put the deck on here at some point. What Matsi883 linked is pretty close, just swap Vendilion Clique , Spellskite , and Tezzeret the Seeker for Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas , 2 Galvanic Blast and 2 Cryptic Command , 1 more Mox Opal . Obviously the land base has to be reworked.

I've been running Tezz affinity for quite some time. Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto.
It's Grixis and like most affinity decks it can go off and punch you in the face early but it can also crank out a turn 2 Tezz. His ultimate is pretty nasty when you spew your hand on the table T1.
I say go for it!

Keep it up! Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas
has a lot of potential, all his abilities are useful (I particularly like turning Vault Skirge
into a 5/5) and the artifact support out there right now is great.

@ miracleHat so, the red would be splashed for Pyrite Spellbomb and 2-3x Galvanic Blast ?

Pretty much. I put some Pyroclasm in the side, those they could be replaced by Electrolyze ...

You're right, Matsi883! I love Tezzerator! I'm a fan of the "mono-blue" one, with Tezzeret the Seeker and a crazy 4 color sideboard. However, if you wanna play U/B, look at one of two builds. One looks like a more ability-heavy version, with up to three copies of engineered explosives, lots of spellbombs, and often Relic of Progenitus . The other option is to be more prison oriented, with higher maindeck counts of Ensnaring Bridge , Torpor Orb , and Damping Matrix . While they both function in the same basic way, each functions on a different principle and preys on different decks.
Tezzeret the Seeker versions are generally the slowest, grindiest decks in the format, with incredibly expensive mana bases using 8 fetches, and often winning by naturally decking your opponent thanks to Miren, the Moaning Well and Academy Ruins . It features a lot more traditional control elements, usually including Cryptic Command , with some number of Mana Leak or Remand making it into the 75.
It really depends on what decks you're looking to beat for what exactly you put in, and remember that it's a toolbox deck, so you can change it. But also remember you will NOT be winning game one against scapeshift. Ever. In all the games I've played, I have won ONE game one against scapeshift. Out of close to fifty.

@ NotSoLuckyLydia I'm mostly going up against a meta of Twin, Pod and Affinity since I play MTGO exclusively. If you're up to it, could you take at the deck I've assembled thus far? I'd appreciate your insight since I have no experience with this deck.

The decklist is on my profile, or in the Deck Help section of the forums under the name: Tezzeret, Agent of Reconstruction.

I played against the deck a while ago (Matsi883 will tell you all about it) and, although it is an effective deck, the amount of artifact hate in the sideboards of most decks means that game 2 isn't quite as effective as game 1. If your Ensnaring Bridge goes missing then you're in trouble. Also, in my experience, it's very boring to play against and I can imagine it's fairly boring to play with as you spend most of the game just sitting around doing nothing, waiting for your opponent to deck themselves. By all means, go ahead and play it competitively, but don't play it in a casual environment.

@ TitansFTW the list I'm looking to build doesn't rely on outright decking the opponent. I'm going to be running either the U/B or a U/B/R version which relies on Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas 's -1 ability to create an army of artifacts. That or grinding through with Creeping Tar Pit or Wurmcoil Engine .
This, is, what I believe to be the Mono Blue version that has been mentioned. And , this one here is the list I'm more interested in. Now. for the record I don't run Master Transmuter because I find it to be somewhat mediocre.

So, I've had another though regarding Tezzerator. How viable would it be to splash green to have access to Abrupt Decay and Maelstrom Pulse ?

@ MindAblaze! BUG. though I don't think running more than 3 colours is viable without a Mox Opal. But now I can't decide on whether to run my current Grixis build or Esper. I guess I'll have to see how the tourney goes :|

I prefer grixis over u/b since you get Lightning Bolt , Pyrite Spellbomb , and Galvanic Blast . Otherwise, it is a great deck that actually wins a lot and surprises people the first time you play it!
