Thoughts on the emerging meta?

So, now that Pod, Cruise, and Dig have been banned, and Grave Troll unbanned, what are everyone's thoughts on the meta that will emerge? I'm looking at going to a GP in 2 weeks, and I need to get a sideboard prepped and a plan for the meta.

Abzan Midrange will be very strong, and Jeskai Control will have a good showing as well. Look for people to overestimate the impact of the bannings on blue decks and go really deep on BGx, so playing cards that screw them over will be your best bet.

So I've got 2 potential decks I could play, 8Rack or UWR control. Which do you think would be stronger?

I would go with UWR. It's just the much stronger and more resilient deck in general.

I would never take 8Rack to a competitive event, because there's no way you'll make it through a field of competitive decks and do well. If there's any deck that's well positioned against you it's Abzan, so I'd just play Jeskai Control.

Yeah, I was figuring that UWR would be stronger, but it also requires more tuning to the meta. Whereas with 8Rack, I don't really need to worry about the meta.

With regards to tuning, I'd definitely be playing at least three Path to Exile, a Batterskull somewhere in the 75, and at least one Celestial Purge in the sideboard.

People will certainly try it, and I would find room for two Relic of Progenitus in my sideboard for the event. Rest in Peace may be going too far, but I'm not entirely sure yet.

8rack and bogle are my favorites for modern right now. Every UR deck just got a huge kick in the nuts with the bannings.
