Almost all copies of Thoughtseize have been depleted from every major retailer including SCG. Anyone's thoughts?

*Not to mention its up to $60+

The fact that it's already a ridiculously powerful card and a Jund staple is reason enough for people to want to buy them out. One of the main reasons is probably that some new archetypes are gaining steam that get dismantled by Thoughtseize , such as the GW Bogledancer deck or the Puresteel Paladin Storm deck.

Here's hoping it's reprinted in Modern Masters. Inquisition of Kozilek can usually an acceptable substitute.

Thoughts?... They've all been seized.

Mind you, there are other alternatives, though i must admit... thoughtseize is pretty nasty. Its a card that almost guarantees your chances of surviving against combo decks and also allows you to be able to protect key pieces of your own combo/offensive force. I don't think at any given point it will be unuseable even with the lifeloss from casting the spell... plus its a pretty prominent key card in legacy too

Also one of the major selling point is there is no restrictions making it great sideboard/mainboard tech, you get rid of the best/most relevant card every time. Inquisition of Kozilek , Duress , Appetite for Brains , etc might all do basically the same thing but won't be as effective from match to match against varying decks.

@graft

It won't be in Modern Masters. Wizards stated that Modern masters would reprint cards only as recent as Shards of Alara.

Thoughtseize is EASILY the best card in Modern. It does everything against every deck. Also, very important in Esper Stoneblade in Legacy. 60$ is a fair price.

yup modern maters encompases anything from the original mirrodin up to shards of alara, things that have been printed since mirrodin/8th edition but haven't seen print since zendikar basically

@ fireteam: Actually, I think it's the other way around -- Modern Masters is supposed to include cards printed in Eigth Edition through Alara Reborn. There's hope, but they've also said regarding Modern Masters that they "will not be increasing the quantity of any card in circulation by more than a fraction of what is already out there".

Thoughtseize is incredibly powerful in both Modern and Legacy. It's just a matter of time until it reaches Goyf's price-range.

keep in mind that just because star city's website says they are out of stock of a certain card, it does not mean they do not have more in a warehouse somewhere so that they can restock. also, if online stores are out of them, just check your local game store. they need your money more than star city does.

And, honestly, StarCity is rather expensive. They may have a huge selection of older and hard-to-find cards, but staples like Thoughtseize will see their prices jacked up in order for StarCity to make more money.
