I've had fun brewing with this card, but could it be good in a competitive modern deck? Can't wait to hear your input!

Wouldn't a Wurmcoil Just be better?

Short answer: No. Long answer...may come later. I play blue tron myself, and that card seems very weak in the deck.

I have a post in my build because I run a 2 of Fabricate, and it's like the perfect card to bring in against deck with land destruction via Life from the Loam (To continue to facilitate your mindlock), and for aggressive creature decks, both of which I run into. You have to work a little bit harder for the post to be an Academy Ruins, but the utility is worth it in my opinion.

Trading Post is love, Trading Post is life.

I refuse to brew Tron without Trading Post.

Did I mention I don't win games?

I think you'd rather just have Oblivion Stone since it recycles with Academy Ruins.

It offers good utility, and it's a good card. But I don't think it's good enough. I don't see myself running U-Tron with less than seven basics. And I can't see myself replacing anything in my list (or in a typical basic primer list for that matter) without significantly weakening the deck. Even my sideboard slots are too precious. This does a lot of things that you need in U-Tron, but at the end of the day the deck is already filled with stuff that does it better. I'd rather draw academy ruins over this, I'd rather draw a tutor effect over this, I'd rather draw a platinum angel over this... Anyway, you get the picture.
