I've wanted to play Tron for a while, but I'm not entirely sure which cards are best to run. In its early days, Tron ran Trading Post regularly, and it often ran Ratchet Bomb. Those have all but disappeared from most decklists now, and I am wondering why?
Theres a guy selling U tron check out his post he has the pictures of cards too so u can view his decklist

I'm actually building mine based on his. I'm just curious about some of his decisions. Like mainboard Steel Hellkite and Platinum Emperion where most people would run Solemn Simulacrum and a second Mindslaver or a Snapcaster Mage.

That particular deck allows for some variation and user preference in building it. Solemn is used in cases where you want the ramp or blocker and can get it out by turn 3-4. Having more win conditions in the emperion or hellkite could also just be meta choices or personal preference, potentially also budget options.

vishnarg: That doesn't really help me with my card choices.

vishnarg actually I feel that in the current state of modern U-Tron is about as strong as RG.
buildingadeck in regards to the aforementioned cards you've already been answered. But yes, U-Tron has a lot of wiggle room. For preferences and meta calls. For instance, I see a lot of aggro and tokens in my meta so I still run Ratchet Bomb in the sideboard. I never run more than one Mindslaver and always at least two Solemn Simulacrum if only to have stuff to pitch to Thirst for Knowledge when I don't need the ramp. Ugin, the Spirit Dragon is a bomb too.
Anyhow, here's my list if it's any help MetaTron If you've any other questions don't hesitate, I'll be glad to help however I can. U-Tron is my pet deck.

Does anyone think that Pentavus could be a decent inclusion?

Hey! The person selling my Blue Tron list is me. You can find my deck on my profile and under "The Trading Post" is the forum post. I am selling the deck for 200 dollars, fifty less than full value. It is fully constructed and functioning in its current form and tuned for the current metagame.

Ratchet Bomb is still a solid inclusion in your sideboard, that shouldn't be forgotten. However, mainboard it doesn't do enough against enough decks and U Tron is deck which is obviously all about value. You will note that all the bombs played in U Tron: Sundering Titan, Platinum Angel, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, Mindslaver and to an extent Wurmcoil Engine, have instant board effect. It is utterly essential. We spend the entire game slowing our opponent down with the most efficient spells possible, which generally means counterspells and bounce spells. When we decide to cast our bomb, it is probable that either our opponent is depleted or we are desperate; in either case Trading Post is not what we want to see. Put simply, it just doesn't do enough and U Tron doesn't need a mana sink. Furthermore it is only the 1st and 2nd abilities which are relevant, both of which lack power and have superior alternatives. If you want to discuss U Tron further, contact me.

There's just better cards for the slot that the deck has access to. Like, would you rather play a trading post, or an Ugin? I'll take the latter.
