Would you play Vesuva or Thespian's Stage in a Modern Artifact deck?
Essentially my decision is coming down to is the potential loss of tempo worth not having to activate the land?

Vesuva immediately comes in as a copy of another land. Thespian's Stage comes in as Thespian's Stage and you have to activate its ability to copy another land.
On the flip side, once Vesuva comes into play, it's stuck as that copied land until it leaves play. Thespian's Stage can shift between land to land.

You're committing two mana to tapping down Thespian Stage. When it comes to modern you're doing a lot of committing to getting a copy of the land you're copying. That two mana would be better saved to casting a counter-spell or removal. So in this case, Vesuva will always be superior, and in a real modern match I don't see you needing to use the copy ability more than once.

I think they're pointless except in very niche decks, so i figured you had a reason for wanting to use one of the other.

You can potentially lose more tempo with Thespian's Stage than the tapped once Vesuva
