seriously. this card strikes me as better than the rhino. I mean seriously, its a 6/5 for 4 mana!

ONE COUNTER on up to three OTHER creatures.

That's why.

That's not how Support works. It's "on each of up to three other".

Are you talking standard?

mathimus55 says... #5

It's fine for a STANDARD Hardened Scales type deck, but for modern it doesn't do enough for a 4 mana investment. If a similar deck takes off in modern sure, it might get some love but the format still isn't super friendly for 4 drops that don't immediately start doing something.

4 CMC for a 3/2 body is terrible, even with the support3. Does it make your 1-3 CMC creatures a little beefier? Sure...but your opponent is probably going to drop a 4/4, a removal, or the like. You just wasted a turn to buff up creatures you're probably going to lose anyway.

March 20, 2016 11:29 p.m.

oh.

other creatures.

shit, support is fucking terrible.

I mean, not only is it other, but only a max of 1 each. fuck that.

Once again, a case of misunderstanding cleared up by reading the card. Amazing. /s

But yeah, Support is pretty much a Limited only mechanic. I'd be amazed if any Support cards saw play in any competitive Constructed format.

So you don't feel bad, I got ridiculously excited about Dream Pillager just Saturday until a buddy of mine was like "[other buddy] said we shouldn't say anything until you try to pull that shit." Classic RTFC. Very nice.

That being said, I could see this card seeing play in a Knight tribal deck next to Silverblade Paladin and Knight Exemplar. Hard to play it over Hero of Bladehold though.

Call me crazy, but I don't think that a 6/5 for 4 mana would see any real play. We got a 1-3 mana 5/5, a two mana 5/6, another 3 mana 5/5, a two mana X/X, and even a one mana 6/6.

Wizards makes one or two bad mechanics. Every set. Bad mechanics doing bad things.

Even with the misunderstanding, I think a vanilla 6/5 for four is worse than a 4/5 w/trample that Lightning Helixs.

Lame_Duck says... #13

Why do people always describe Siege Rhino as casting Lightning Helix? It's a Blood Tithe!

March 21, 2016 6:51 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #14

It's not a Blood Tithe because you don't gain 3x life you just gain 3 life.

Also, support is a decent limited mechanic for changing up combat math. Not everything is for constructed.

@KillDatBUG okay, so I totally understand the rest of this thread but your comment confuses me.

what 1 mana 6/6? what 2 mana 5/6? what 3 mana 5/5? what 1-3 mana 5/5?

seriously, what are these cards? as Vanillas these cards would never be printed.

except maybe the 3 mana 5/5 but still.

ah, that makes more sense.

I thought you might've been doing something like that. when I hear the mana cost and p/t I always assume you mean base p/t and mana cost and such.

March 21, 2016 9:27 p.m.

Maybe you were confusing Support with Bolster, e.g. Dromoka, the Eternal?
