Want to improve my decks in Modern. What land bases should I look to buy?

I've started buying up fetch/scry lands and now that I'm almost done I'm looking to fill in cards from outside sets I've opened. Besides shocklands from RtR are there any affordable (10-15 each max) lands I should look to grab playsets of that will improve decks in Modern?

Look up other people's versions of your deck or at least that have the same theme. There are some great utility lands to be had but they're specific to the type of deck you are building.

Check lands (Hinterland Harbor, Clifftop Retreat, etc), man lands (Raging Ravine, Treetop Village, Stirring Wildwood, etc), or filter lands (Flooded Grove, Sunken Ruins, etc). It all depends on your colors and what you want to do

You could pick up Dryad Arbor as well.

The fast lands are decent. Copperline Gorge is one of them, but I forget the rest.

I highly suggest getting (in order of importance):

Shock lands - Check (buddy) lands - Zendikar man lands - fast lands - filterlands - the other 5 fetches

By having a solid mana base, you'll be able to make any deck you want to try and it will stand the chance of being playable. Since you already have your standard fetches, there's no need to worry about the other five until last.

Also, examples of all of these mentioned lands: Temple Garden, Sunpetal Grove, Stirring Wildwood, Razorverge Thicket, Wooded Bastion

Yeah I'm defs not rushing to get the Zendikar fetchlands atm. As good as they are, the announcement of no reprints made them all jump into 'dream on' territory in terms of prices (for me)

I'm not building to any specific deck atm so I'm just trying to hit cover my bases for various strategies. Are there any 3+ colour lands I should look out for if I ever move outside of 2-colour decks? Or will balancing khans fetches->shocks cover me most of the time?

3 color lands (Sandsteppe Citadel and family) are all far too slow for modern. Fetches and Shocks are the way to go for 3+ color decks.

The fastland is used as a 2 or 3 of in Loam-Pox (). Other than that I'm not sure.

Fetches and shocks are the most important to get, but since you usually need 3-4 of the fetches, and 1-2 of the shocks, getting shocks is a lot easier. After that, I'd recommend man lands, then checklands/fastlands, ending with utility lands. Utility lands are usually super cheap and easy to get hold of, so they're not really a huge priority.

Definitely just get a playset of Khans fetches. They'll last you your entire magic career, and fit in 90% of modern decks you want to build.

What exactly is the worth of Dryad Arbor anyway?
