What do you guys think of den protector in modern

Could she be an under sold staple? Could she be just as good as tasigur? What do you guys think?
Witness is pretty much preferred. Consistency is important.

I don't see how Den Protector and Tasigur, the Golden Fang are close in power level when it comes to modern
Look at it this way, Eternal Witness is far better and sees very little play as is

Personally, I think Den Protector isn't good enough for Modern. a 2/2 for 
with no abilities seems much too slow, especially with nothing like Mastery of the Unseen to get it into play. I think Tasigur, the Golden Fang is a much better card because in many decks you can cast it for 
and it survives removal such as Abrupt Decay and Lightning Bolt whereas Den Protector does not. You don't even have to use Tasigur, the Golden Fang's ability to make it good, because a 4/5 for is very good.

Deathmist Raptor is too slow in Modern. There are some "better" Morph creatures you get access to like Vesuvan Shapeshifter, but you'd rather just run the Pickles combo deck with Brine Elemental. However that's just too slow for Modern as it sits right now.

Deathmist Raptor is too slow for Modern and Eternal Witness is strictly better than Den Protector.

Well I, for one, like how Den Protector is a nice beatstick (which can't be chumped!), that she can either cost 2 mana early on or 5 and get value.
One of the problems I've had with Witness is that she's in my hand and I have nothing to return, and I feel guilty about playing her as a 2/1 for 3 mana XD That's a problem that Protector doesn't have. And her semi-unblockable ability is very nice for spirits and other small creatures running around. There's also a nice difference in power once she's megamorphed. In my experience, I also usually only play witness when I have 5 or more mana anyways, because I play control and that's when my graveyard is nice and full.
Then again, let's not get crazy. Taz is waaaaaay better because he's bigger and cheaper. End of story. Deathmist Raptor, as Wiley said, is very slow. So does Protector have a place in Modern? I think she might. It's probably not a big one, but I can see her working in one-two decks.

Witness as mostly only seen play in value decks, like Collected Company where she gets a card back from the yard for you for free. Den Protector can't do that.

That's certainly a valid point. I used to play Witness in Sultai control as a two-of, I think, and Protector would probably work better in that position. But in CoCo decks, Witness is definitely better.

There's stuff like Grisly Salvage, Treasured Find n a whole bunch of good grave yard cards in modern. Maybe something like that would speed it up.
