What type of deck...

Modern forum

so i've been trying to figure out what kind of modern deck I'd like to run. i've thought of making B/W tokens, U/R Delvers, but now i think i want to do U/R Storm with Goblin Electromancer . It wont be really for competition mainly casual for now, (I'm more competative in standard)

Just wanted to hear suggestions and thoughts on other possible decks, as well as storm.

Storm has definitely picked up since the banning of DRS and the 7th(?) place finish in the recent GP with U/R Pyromancer Ascension .

As for what deck you run, that can be based on several different factors. Modern decks as a whole are generally expensive. Spending 600+ dollars on them is not uncommon, so if you were to stay casual, I'd stay away from modern (but that's just me). More of it has to do with you as a person. Are you a quick to think aggressive person who loves bashing face? Try a tribal zoo deck or RDW. Or are you more like me, a slower paced sadist who loves playing control? If the second, then try UWR control or some form of Esper. "What kind of budget do you have?" is also a huge question to ask yourself. Magic as a game is expensive, but the reason that it's so expensive is that certain cards are in demand ALSO because they're tier-1 material.

After you've gone through all this, you must finally consider what's actually GOOD in modern. (Or go for a complete homebrew and test your luck). Afterwards, you should arrive at your desired deck.

Maybe this helped, maybe I did a poor job of explaining it, but again, hopefully it helped!

Thanks, yes this was a help. I've been studying modern for a little bit and I've noticed certain decks thrive with certain cards. This has made me steer away from those in particular because the cards are so expensive for my budget.

I want to stay away from control even though I love playing it, Cryptic Command and Snapcaster Mage , and many others. When i first started playing magic, I gravitated towards combo decks first, which i think is why storm decks seem so appealing. And for that Pyromancer Ascension seems to be that card thats the most expensive, but fits my budget.

So it sounds like you've just come circle in wanting to make a storm deck :P

What do YOU think makes a good U/R storm?
