Is this mechanic worth building a deck around in modern?

The Q&A is for rules questions only. Moved to Modern.

Isn't there a filter page to catch this? Anyway, short answer: no. Long answer: wither is unnecessary, and it shouldn't be a core mechanic in a competitive deck because it doesn't do anything super valuable for what you pay for it.

Wither was a mechanic introduced to interact with Persist. Most of the creatures with Wither aren't that powerful. The only ones that are still playable are Stigma Lasher , Woodlurker Mimic , and Boggart Ram-Gang .

Infect is much more powerful. It does the same thing but can also "oops, I killed you" against players.

Wither is almost strictly worse than Infect, which is a ridiculously fun mechanic to play with. Infect is a moderately viable combo deck in Modern, and my build may be a starting point (shameless plug, but nevertheless I hope it helps):

The goal with Infect is to pump your own creatures to win the game as quickly as possible. Some versions can also be more focused on the wither part of the mechanic, which makes Infect creatures hard to block very profitably.
