When it comes to modern elfs ...

I have seen online decks built with elves are predominantly going with collected company and either splashing Black for Abrupt Decay , Shaman of the Pack , Thoughtseize , on the other hand splashing white gives options for Gaddock Teeg , Rest in Peace etc I know there more side board stuff but question is why not splash blue for Beck / Call ? Modern has mana suitable right?

Cause Evolutionary Leap is the best elf deck currently :) No need for anything else

Gilt-Leaf Palace helps a lot with the black splash. I haven't gone the Evolutionary Leap route with my deck just yet but it is interesting and better than going into blue for one card. I think black is probably better overall than white, but that's mostly just a personal preference. Shaman of the Pack gives you a lot of reach and hitting a Collected Company with him and Dwynen's Elite can be a real beating.

Evol elves is really bad vs jund and grixis. Black splash vs white splash is personal preference. You can get more out of blue than beck but I suppose that takes away from Elf combo / elf aggro strategy. Master Biomancer is that to slow in a turn 4 format?

Chris vanmeter proved that statement to be fairly wrong.

Evol elves is VERY good against decks that like to attack on the ground and that like to try and 1:1 you which is essentially all that Jund and Grixis do.

They attack? Cool, declare blocks then sac the blocker to Leap. They go to Dismember/Terminate? Neat, sac in response and Leap.

You can't 1:1 Evol elves. Period.

If you think it's bad against Jund and Grixis you should really watch the matches he played in the last event he took it to.

How do I watch his match from 2 weeks ago?

Here is the deck tech.

Im sure youtube or twitch would have it somewhere, I'm not going to scour the net for it.

Please do, I haven't been able to find it. I'm debating on whether I should buy the cards to make evolutionary elves so i can have 2 different elf decks, or build tooth and nail

notamardybum I'm hopped up on oxycodone from surgery still, I'm not going to troll around the nt looking, sorry.

Twitch replays might be your best bet.

White has all-around stronger sideboard options; it gives you access to great tools like Rest in Peace, Path to Exile, Kataki, War's Wage, Burrenton Forge-Tender, Hushwing Gryff... lots of very useful things.

But a black splash may do more mainboard. You can build combo elves with Shaman of the Pack, and run Thoughtseize to hit the sweepers that are especially likely to ruin your day.

So, they will play differently and it's a question of which you prefer to do.

I think disrupting your opp hand stops the uh oh factor and more proactive than reactive.

There's merit to both. Thoughtseize removes the threat for , but it can whiff and you won't have it all the time. But you'll often have Chord of Calling and Collected Company to go get a creature that will blank in opponent's play, most of which are in white.

One of the things I love about playing elves is the ability to respond to opponents by getting out exactly the creature they'd least like to see at that time. The deck is highly resilient for aggro and can be throttled down against control to avoid overextending. Other aggro decks are often not as capable of doing that. Both black and white can enhance these strengths, but in different ways.

To be honest with you, I'd rather experiment with Evolutionary Leap before considering any of these color splashes. I think that it improves Elves' resiliency (by letting you pitch guys in response to spot removal and get more guys), and its explosiveness (trade in a Dwynen's Elite token for a chance at Ezuri, Renegade Leader or Elvish Archdruid? Don't mind if I do!).

Is there a list for it ? I know CVM wasn't impressed with his sideboard choices for the most part. Burn and Infect did him dirty.

There is a reason his buddy's let CVM play the deck. It was not strong enough. Its super weak to distruption, and normal Elves can fight through it much better. EvoElves have a faster goldfish, but games where you get to goldfish your winning no matter what flavor of Elf you run.

I have played all flavor of Elf a lot over the last 6 months and my experience is that G/W Elves is the best version as the meta stands currently.

The plural of elf is elves. Like knife and knives

I'm more interested in Leap as a sideboard card against removal than a key mainboard piece.
