Where's the Dega love?
Modern forum

Having spent a good deal of time on my dega deck We Do Not Sow and having now collected the land i need to play the colours i've noticed a lack of modern Dega coloured decks on the site. To the point where i can cycle my deck and by searching the R/B/W hub it'll still be there days later or even longer. Same goes for searching the colours, not much up on the site at all. Don't think i've ever played against anyone at a tournament in the colours either.
Any reason for this i'm missing? They're great colours to play with access to plenty of staples so it can be just as competitive as other colour combinations. I'd really like to see more from these colours on the site especially on the modern end of things where i spend 90% of my time in mtg.
On a side note, the R/B/W hub is the only hub without it's colour designation - Dega

It's colors where you have access to good control cards-but no counters. Good midrange cards-but no Tarmogoyf . Very little combo potential lies with BRW, and aggro is highly limited in modern, primarily just to Affinity and (now) zoo.

I have nothing to add to the conversation since I don't keep up with the meta of any organized format. To be fair though none of the wedges are called by their Apocalypse Disciple, Sanctuary, Volver names in the hubs.
WBR as you said isn't called Dega in the hubs
URG isn't called Ceta in the hubs
BGW isn't called Necra in the hubs
RWU isn't called Raka in the hubs
GUB isn't called Ana in the hubs

Sorry but when someone answers 'tarmogoyf' my eyes roll a little, more over when answer is Dega isn't played because it doesn't have access to it. It's a good strong card when you compromise your deck build for it but it's overrated and at no point does any one card negate an entire slice of the colour pie.
For one you have to build around the card so as to get any power out of it as possible overlooking other two drops that put pressure on the field no matter the board state. It dies to just about every modern removal staple spell including those played in these colours - Path to Exile Terminate Dreadbore etc. Graveyard hate crushes it especially when playing white as Rest in Peace exists also Scavenging Ooze see's far more play than goyf as it's a more accessible card that also incidentally it screws with goyf.
Also depends on what you mean by counters - Mana Tithe Dash Hopes

Dash Hopes is a punisher card, meaning that it will never do what you actually want it to. Browbeat is the only punisher that can come close enough to itself to be playable. When the options are "Draw 2.25 burn spells or deal five damage" they are similar enough to be consistent. But when the option is "counter a spell or burn their face" it's bad in a control deck and bad in a burn deck, because the one you want will never happen if your opponent is playing well.
If your answer to Tarmogoyf is "Play a card that does nothing but make Tarmogoyf bad and is bad in multiples, you aren't going to do well against the decks that play goyf. If you side in 2 cards that are removal against goyf but nothing else, you will lose against any deck that plays Tarmogoyf , because their cards are nearly always better than yours. Additionally, the decks that play goyf all have access to ScOoze, and aren't using it, in spite of copious discard and removal. What that says about ScOoze is up to you to interpret.
If your argument is "Dies to removal" you shouldn't be playing magic on a competitive level.
If you think that Dega is a competitive deck, build it and take it to a GP. Win that GP. Then have the deck win a few more GPs/open events, maybe take down a PT. Then I'll believe that the deck has potential. But as of yet, we have seen no evidence of it having significant potential.
By the way, Mana Tithe being your only counter in a control deck isn't something I'd recommend.

One of my most favourite cards is Degavolver . I have nothing else to contribute to the discussion, sorry.
