I have a bunch of leftover standard legal cards I no longer use since I switched to playing modern. Before I trade them away, I just want to know: Do any of these have more than a fair chance of making the grade in a modern deck?
Boros Reckoner Mizzium Mortars Signal the Clans Mistcutter Hydra Flesh / Blood Clan Defiance Boon Satyr Plasm Capture Master Biomancer Prophet of Kruphix Desecration Demon Reaper of the Wilds Fleecemane Lion Skylasher Nighthowler Polukranos, World Eater nightveil spectre Colossus of Akros Bow of Nylea Collective Blessing Gaze of Granite Aurelia, the Warleader

you could easily make a solid RG Fling deck in Modern using Flesh / Blood . Though I do believe that that is the only card that has real promise out of those listed. The rest aren't really suited to the format. But like EvenDryke mentioned, anything's possible, especially at the LGS level.

Mistcutter Hydra is really the only card I can see breaking into modern competitive. everything is is not strong enough or fast enough in the current format.
casually and at FNM most of them are great as EvenDryke said. Just don't expect to win the next GP

Courser of Kruphix is getting alot of play in Jund and BG Rock in Modern. I'd buy now before it's $15+

Courser of Kruphix will see some. Possibly Boros Reckoner . Prophet of Kruphix has potential, but would die to easily, so no. Other than that none of them.

@bantam1234: Deathrite Shaman is banned in Modern.

Epochalyptik - Technically bantam1234 is right. The problem was Deathrite Shaman was TOO bonkers in Modern to be legal anymore.
On topic, if any of those cards would be great in Modern we would know already. I'm trying to get into Modern, so I'm not well versed on the meta, but someone would have made a bonkers deck with any of the cards you mentioned already.

JWiley129 Not necessarily. It sometimes takes a long time for someone to see a potential deck or combo. Birthing Pod and Melira, Sylvok Outcast were around for a while before MeliraPod became a thing.

Right now none of the cards listed are particularly great in Modern.
Are they playable? At the LGS level, sure. Could you build a reasonably strong deck that utilized one or more of them? Absolutely.
The great thing about Modern is that unlike vintage and legacy there are far fewer cards that are downright unplayable. If you can dream it you can do it, you just might not win a GP with it.
The only ones I would tell you not to play are Skylasher , Plasm Capture and Colossus of Akros . Reason being that they are a bit too slow for the format right now.
