I know he's good, perhaps nearing Delver of Secrets Flip in potential.
I know because I've gotten my face smashed in on turn two in an unpolished deck. Akroan Crusader turn one, then Titan's Strength turn two. That's 5 points of damage turn two, and a scry.
Could a rework be done on Wee Fiend style decks to fit Akroan Crusader as the one drop, instead of the Delver of Secrets Flip that's so prevalent?
I'm thinking that with the Mutagenic Growth , Apostle's Blessing , Mizzium Skin , Assault Strobe , Shadow Rift , and Artful Dodge that these decks already play, he seems like a natural fit.
Mark of Fury would be sweet too, the recursion is amazing. I've found that the main problem with Wee Fiend is that you have to overcommit to win, which also leads to spectacular losses. Now all of these spells plop a token onto the field. :D
actually, i'm speaking as someone inexperienced in competitive play, so i have no idea what is popular in decks and what isn't so don't hold me accountable :P

Ratchet Bomb
is not legal in Pauper, where this topic is posted and what this post concerns based on the cards mentioned.
On topic, though, I don't see why it wouldn't work. It's a different angle and works really well with army-buffing spells that function as single-target spells as well. The two cards I'm specifically thinking of are Weapon Surge and Dynacharge . The power level of those cards on a single creature are lower, though not unplayable, but are ridiculously strong with Akroan Crusader 's army of tokens. I think it's worth trying, but would need an overhaul in the spell distribution.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, but remember that a lot of pauper decks sideboard Hydroblast . That would be bad.

Electrickery would ruin my day just as easily as a Ratchet Bomb , but Mizzium Skin exists.
But the consensus is that it doesn't fit cleanly into a Wee Dragonauts , Kiln Fiend , Nivix Cyclops strategy, right?

@MyRevival Mizzium Skin won't protect against an overloaded Electrickery though.

Just a quick question on my end here...When you overload Dynacharge do you get a 1/1 haste token from the Akroan Crusader from that? Or would Dynacharge not target the Crusader specifically? Thank you for any insight!

In a Theros draft last night, I drafted Akroan Crusader x4, Dragon Mantle x4, and Messenger's Speed x4. Ended up 3-0 in the draft with my wall of 1/1's.

however, the tokens are extremely easy to remove. a ratchet bomb would do them away in an instant
