New to Pauper & Deck Choices!

My LGS recently got into the Pauper format, and there's now one Pauper FNM a month. I wish to start playing this format, but I lack a deck or a direction to go in. I currently have a 30$ budget of which to buy cards. I love control and combo, but I'm not above running an aggro strategy. I'm also not new to mtg. Which type of decks are fun, competitive and in my price range? Comments and suggestions most appreciated.

I personally play familiar combo, mono black, and hexproof, with a preference to mono black. But you can pretty much do whatever you like in the format.

Check here for ideas. Of all of them, the Jeskai deck fits your budget and is one of the closest to control.

Those ideas sound really cool. I think I'll maybe try the Jeskai list. But another question: how do you find all of these build arounds from the thousands of commons? Could I maybe get some suggestions of how to brew? Also, thanks for the responses.

@Dredge4life There are a few ways of doing things. First off is choosing a favorite card of yours that you really like, then trying to build a deck around it. Secondly would be to find individually powerful cards, then put them in a deck. Finally, you can look at the cards you currently own and try to piece together a deck, then look for cards that could improve that deck.

Many of the most fun decks in the format are mechanic based. Hexproof, Madness, Delve, Dredge, infect.

Okay, that makes sense, thanks for the ideas. I found my card; it's Spellstutter Sprite. I think I'm going to try U/B Faeries with the "Faeries matters" theme. The Decklist should hopefully be posted by tomorrow. Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
