Servant of Tymaret

Pauper forum

I really wanted to fit him in somewhere and have a good time creating a fairly good, imaginative deck. The problem is that pauper is obviously pretty fast and actually surprisingly competitive.

Does anyone play standard pauper? Has anyone done anything with Servant of Tymaret ? Is a slow control win possible?

I suppose every format has its meta but I just felt a bit disappointed that my creativity was stifled. And that my deck building massively missed the memo about how good pauper decks can be. That too.

The only special thing about him is that regenerating taps him. So you don't even need to attack to get an inspired trigger. Other than that, he is much too slow. I don't know much about standard pauper (I only play regular), but I'm sure RW and UW heroic are pretty good. Decks in regular pauper have a difficult enough time controlling, at best they play some sort of tempo/control hybrid. In standard pauper, there are even less efficient kill spells as there are in regular. If you do use him, you'll either need multiples of him, or abilities like Extort to make a slow-drain style of deck that becomes difficult to deal with once it gets going (because of all the direct damage)

It's kinda sad how he has no synergy with Tymaret, the Murder King .
