So I am building the sliver deck that was featured on the ManaSource recently:
Pauper Slivers

But I feel that it could be made better. Do you all have any suggestions on what could possibly be changed? I feel like Rancor is a very good card and pairs with Virulent Sliver very well. I'm also wondering if Vines of Vastwood would be better than Thrill of the Hunt? Thanks!

The problem with Virulent Sliver is that no matter how much damage gets through to the opponent, they only receive 1 poison counter per sliver that damages them.

Multiple instances of Poison 1 in a creature result in multiple counters.

Okay I guess it's different from Infect. You deal regular combat damage, AND you give the opponent a poison counter. So it's not crazy to have it in there.

Wizard_of_the_Broke Yeah the way I see it, it's more built like an aggro deck where instead of instant or sorceries pumping your creatures, you have other creatures doing that. The extra poison counters is a nice alternate win con if you're not pumping out enough normal damage or if your opponent is able to gain a lot of life.Especially if you can get 2 Virulent Sliver into play, because all your slivers would get poisonous 1 to trigger twice.

Yeah, now that I get the deck a bit better, I really think Rancor is a good addition. Armadillo Cloak should maybe be relegated to the sideboard. Vines also seems like a good inclusion. Worth testing, in any case.

Wizard_of_the_Broke Yeah I do like Armadillo Cloak because with the lifegain lategame, it almost forces the opponent to take care of that creature, which still leaves others open. But yes Rancor is very nice because of the recursion. They only reason I'm not totally sold on Vines of Vastwood is because of the double green casting cost to utilize it fully which sometimes could be tough to hit.

I haven't played a Slivers deck, and haven't played against them much, either. But here are some impressions:
I actually don't like Virulent Sliver at all. The deck doesn't look fast enough to get a combo-ish, early-turn Infect win, so if you drop him early and he dies, or drop him late when you've already done some damage to your opponent's life total, it seems to me that you're switching game plans mid-game. It may well be that no one plays him unless it looks like the coast is clear to go for the early win, but in a deck with no draw power, that decision is a lot tougher, because stranding him in your hand is significant, and you're always going to be unlikely to draw a second copy if he dies, so you have a downside either way. I think I'd rather mainboard Spinneret Sliver.
And I'd say the deck lacks card advantage overall. You get a little bit of pseudo-advantage from Hive Stirrings and Thrill of the Hunt, but that's it. Rancor might help a touch. Maybe Bequeathal? The deck kind of hedges it's bets a bit. It's not all-out aggro or all-out resilient, and I wouldn't call it midrange-y because it has so few control elements. So it's really counting on making bigger creatures an killing your guys with combat tricks. So it's not awesome at racing, and looks very beatable by anything that just draws way more cards (ans therefore, answers) over a longer game.
