So how is Pauper doing?

Lately I've been having a little bit of interest in playing the pauper format. I don't know a whole lot about it but it seems pretty fun, and also extremely cheap compared to other formats I see, or at least that is the impression an all Commons format gives me.
With that said, I'm curious about how healthy it is, meta-speaking.
For those who play, how is it faring? Is it worth building into?
There's pauper tron and pauper twin.
And relative to the power level of the format, they're about as scary as they are in Modern.
So I'll leave it at that.

I dont play the format much but if you play against people who want to win itll probably be 95% delver decks

I would certainly agree with Bulldawg1310, the meta depends on where you live and who runs what. That said in my experience we have many different decks that each do fairly well from Green Infect to White Soldiers to Zombies. Pauper is a very very fun format that costs hardly anything to get into. My most expensive deck that I own is about $30. My favorite deck costs $12. And there are many possibilities for decks. So I would certainly tell you to go ahead and try it.

Bulldawg1310, KingMathoro: I'm hoping so, it seems like there is a decent pauper community in my city. I'm hoping it will be a good mix of decks and archtypes. I know one of my friends likes playing mono black control so it seems pretty interesting.
TMBRLZ: if I spend maybe $5.00 I could have pauper tron built. Never heard of pauper twin though, so I'll look into that too.
EmblemMan: I'll look into that too. I've wanted to build a good mix of decks so I can readily play with other people on a moment's notice. Delver seems like a deck I'd like to try in modern, so I'm sure it's just as good in pauper.

That Said, I've been told that pauper is suprisingly effective and, well, powerful with the pool of cards you get. Friend went as far to say that pauper is in between legacy and modern in terms of deck strength, what are your thoughts on that?

in my opinion it is easily on par with modern as far as power levels and speed of decks. of course there are no titans or huge bombs to slam on table. but having all the pre 8th edition cards to play with makes for some very interesting and fun games. im the only person in my group that builds pauper decks and they play good. for me its nice to have the restrictions for deck building. 20 years in and things can get a little redundant. PLUS NO $50+ lands that are needed! it can be a nice trip down memory lane as well.

Pauper tends to be really fast which makes it pretty competitive with some modern and even legacy decks, like said before you don't get a huge game changing card in pauper but that tends to force you to search for cards that work together. As for price, pauper decks tend to range from as low as $5 (you can build Kiln Fiend for this is you really tried), all the way up to what is probably the most expensive deck in the format of U/R control which comes in at about $90 bar any changes to the established list on your part.

There are some really crazy lists out there. For example I played against the Eldrazi Reanimator that can put an Ulamog's Crusher on the board as early as turn 2 with Dragon Breath using Putrid Imp and Exhume. It's not unbeatable but it'll put you on a clock for sure.

Bit late to the party but I play pauper primarily on MTGO and have been adamant about trying to get it at my LGS so much so that I have nearly every meta deck built and housed on site for anyone who wants to try the format.
Meta is growing fairly stale. Stompy variants and Delver variants control the leagues, making it hard to win with a deck that's not designed to barf out 10 power on turn 2 or deploy a delver and hide behind a never ending cascade of countermagic. I have had great luck sneaking wins in past them with a mono W metalcraft list, but I think the format is approaching a phase where it needs to ban a key card or two to freshen it up.

It is fun and certainly cheap. I would say meta is based where you live. Only a couple shops where i live run tournaments, and its only once a month. If anything, it proves challenging as a builder, to only have a select group of cards to build from
