Strong Pauper Decks?

I'm thinking of going to a pauper tournament this Saturday, but I currently have no deck.
I want to try to stick to cards I already own, but I am willing to buy some.
I am most interested in Tron, Delver of Secrets Flip , mono U ninjas, mono black control, hexproof auras. I could build most of these pretty easily with cards I already have.
What would you recommend playing, and what should I be prepared for?
I agree with kriskurse on the izzet blitz/cyclops deck I love it, I run it a lot. I also run a mono-B aggro-control deck, Metal Bitches n Cola
Also here is a good look at the pauper metagame

I've heard that the format is faster than you would think a common-only format would be. Is that true?
Would you say it's a turn X format like Modern and Legacy, or not so much?

From what I see in pauper, it's a turn 5-6 format on average. There are some control decks, combo decks, and just bad decks that win later. It can definitely be very fast, so be prepared to buckle down or match pace.

There aren't many Pauper players around here, but because there are a few that I regularly see around the local shops (we have 4 in a 20 mile radius) I decided to go ahead and throw one together for fun, I haven't had the chance to actually play it yet, because I haven't been out. But in testing it's been doing pretty good. It's a nice slow deck that has a ton of draw manipulation. Simic meets Phyrexia

Eye Candy is one of the more popular pauper decks. Using Kiln Fiend and Nivix Cyclops to deal lethal on turn 3-4. Other decks to be worried about is Affinity.
