Had a great time at Pioneer tonight

My LGS stopped running Standard for FNM, and switched to Pioneer.

Works for me as I stopped playing Standard a couple of years ago, but have stacks of old Standard decks that I've set up for Pioneer.

Our meta is very healthy, at the moment.

A lot of original decks, no oppressive decks, friendly people.

It's made me glad to get back into competitive Magic.

So glad to hear Pioneer is going well there and that you are enjoying your time! I personally love Electrostatic Pummeler in Pioneer, although it is far from tier. What have you been playing?

I’m putting together my first Pioneer deck at the moment. The store I’m gonna start going to runs a tourney every Sunday. I’m excited to play the format for the first time.

Good to hear you’re having fun with it. I think I’ll enjoy any format I can play 4x Sprite Dragon .

Abzan Control won the night. Mostly using black cards, with splashes for Siege Rhino and Courser of Kruphix.

Gruul Dinos, that I built for StuBi came second.

Third was RDW.

Fourth was me, with my own take on Mono Red Burn.

We also had an original Red Combo deck, and Orzhov Knights.

Not a lot of players, but enough to make things fun.

A smaller number means we are all getting to know each other quite well, which is nice.

There are different people playing each week.

Some of the other decks have been Azorius Control, Jeskai Yorion, Orzhov Life gain, and a Reanimator deck.
