Introducing Themes!
Site Updates forum

Themes have been a long requested feature for the site, to upgrade visuals and to let users personalize their viewing experiences more.
To access a theme, click your profile icon, the little headshot of a person. Near the button you'll see a tab that says "Themes". Hover over it and you'll be able to choose from among the available themes.
There are three themes presently to choose from. Classic, Light and Dark.
Themes are a work in progress and there's many places in this site that they may not be properly attributing to, or somethings may be glaringly out of place. Give us feedback with what you see so we can make the themes look nice!

Opened the site and wondered if my screen was broken with this black'n'white looks. Looks awesome!

I was wondering why tappedout was so glitchy this morning. I'm glad the theme came! I love darkness, I use dark mode on my computer, this just makes it even darker. Thank you for the theme.

The dark theme does look great (although it took me off guard)
On mobile at least, the profile drop-down list has a transparent background, so the options overlap with whatever writing is behind it. This makes it harder to read.
Outside of that, thumbs up!

I apologize for the double post, but another note for mobile is the that the comment "like" counter is white on white.

Thank you so much for retaining the classic theme in addition to the new ones!

Dark is super nice, but Classic holds a special place in my heart. Agreed with Balaam_; thank you for keeping it!
Also with light theme, my poor eyes.

The background to the profile menu, where you can change theme, is transparent for me on mobile, for all but the classic theme.

So glad yall decided to add some customization! If you are planning on adding more themes, may I suggest something that's in between classic and dark mode? Classic is a bit too bright and dark mode is a bit too dark for me.

Can't wait for the gold bordered legendary theme ;)
Give it another 10 years and we will be back to Myspace options!
- Yes I'm that old

I like the update - though it appears that it always reverts back to "dark" theme for me, despite my efforts to view the site in "classic", the site doesn't appear to retain my choice.
Are we able to have the site remember users theme selections? Or have it as a setting option?
May 4, 2022 2:56 a.m.
I love the themes, dark mode is great. The only issue I found is (maybe it's just my screen brightness) the card text links are a bit dark vs the dark background (color: #337ab7;), and they fail a11y contrast checks.
Any chance to get them a bit brighter? Maybe a slightly brighter blue? (color: #81b7e5;)
I'm trying to be constructive, not contrary. Feel free to ignore this and I love the work going into the site.

I like the option to have a dark theme, even if I feel closer to the original color settings. This is certainly a refreshing update.

Finally, a theme to match the darkness of my soul...
Very nicely done. Easy on the eyes.

Great job guys

Great to see, that there are still people working on the site.

I am loving the dark theme, but classic still slaps the most for me.

This explains so much. I was wondering why the site just died on me at one point yesterday as I was trying to save a deck build and go bed.
I do love me some Dark theme it's better for the eyes however Classic still just feels more MTG-ish?

Lol when I opened up the site it was on dark mode. I was like, "what happened to the red on my notifications? Wait what happened to the site? Is it dieing. Is it dead like vision from avengers, when the color left him

Keeping it in dark mode by the way. Everything in my phone is set to dark mode. And I love this.

I didn't even know I needed a dark theme, but this is great!

Looks like both my comments got addressed. Thanks to the team!

Loving this update!
I don't remember if it was always like this, but it's more noticeable with the Dark Theme. On the deck edit page, The quantities for Main, Side, Maybe, Token, and Acquire all fall outside of the bottom of the header. This could just be a screen resolution issue on my end as well. Not really sure.
main
(60)
The (60) overlaps the bottom cell border. Not really an issue, more of an FYI

The underscore lines that I use to separate things like in my profile have disappeared. I'm in dark mode on my phone.
Those lines, see they are not there

I hate to be the one posting alot but I feel like it's only helping. When I click on a link to a card like Binding Agony or any other card, then click on "Vist page". Once I'm on that page is says that's I'm not logged in. However when I go to log in. The web site says that I'm allready logged in.
Dark mode on my phone.

I just tested what griffstick said and it happened to me too (also currently using mobile)

For the phone issues, it likely matters what OS we are all using.
I am on Android, and it too did that for me.

I’ve noticed an issue related to the banner ads and Dark mode, not sure if anyone else encountered this yet.
When viewing a deck, if I click on a card to view it and the popup window with the card information appears and then attempt to click the red Close window, if that happens to be overlaid upon a banner ad in the background it won’t close the card pop up window and instead it prioritizes opening whatever website pertains to the ad. This doesn’t seem to occur with cards far enough down the page that the banner ad is then scrolled off screen, only when the two things happen to be overlaid on top of each other.
I’m on mobile if that’s relevant. Anyone else encounter this, or might this be on my end of things?

I'm having ad issues too. It feels like the ad was in front of the the buttons but looks behind. It happens to me with anything.
Android Dark mode.

I tried each of them for a few seconds. This is my summery:
Dark: Clean, simple, I like it. But maybe a little bit too clean. Everything is the same colour. The active text box is almost the same as the background. It's not a bad colour, but there's little difference between objects. After looking at the playtester, it feels like a lot of the colour and life was drained out of the Classic playtester.
Clean, simple, I like the colour used, but it feels a little bit sterile, and that kills the playtester.
6.5/10
Classic: The name says it all. I may be biased due to familiarity, but I like it. It feels like a table. The black bar in the playtester makes all the other colours pop a little bit more, and I like colours. I don't like the brownish-grey used for forums though.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but I like grey-blue better than grey-brown.
8/10
Light: Ow, my eyes. The sun is a deadly laser. It does make my Angel deck seem more radiant, going so far as to blind me with radiance. About the playtester, not much changed between Classic and Light, but the black bar got changed to a lighter version of the Dark Mode Forum background, so the other colours pop less.
Yes, I default to dark mode. Yes, I wear sunglasses all the time outside. Yes, I am biased.
3/10
I know I put Classic above Dark, but I might just go back and forth between the two. I'm never using Light Mode again, but don't use my distaste to deprive someone else as an option to experience something they enjoy. It does not impact me, it does not impact anyone else, nothing is being forced on anyone, therefore I say, "leave options open."
If you like Light Mode, that's fine. I don't like Light Mode, that's also fine.
